Stages of Grief: Players

Interesting article!

While reading it, I couldn't help but notice that the Five Stages of Grief are often what happens to a player when faced with the sudden death of his or her character.

Denial: "My PC is dead? No way!"

Anger: "I told you guys we shouldn't have stormed the castle without scouting out their defenses! You didn't listen and my PC gets killed!"

Bargaining: "Come on, Mr. GM, that was kind of a cheap death and I don't want to spend two hours creating a new character that you'll have to integrate. How about he's just unconcsious?"

Depression: "I really loved that character. This sucks!"

Acceptance: "Fine, let me see the books so I can make a new one."

Again, good article.

Re: Stages of Grief: Players

LOL, that's very true, I've seen that myself many times. Of course, its a real compliment to a GM when a player is attached enough to his character to grieve for them after they die.
