get on any local gaming list that might exist on Yahoo! or Google Groups.

How about get some to design a logo for the group (if one does not already exist) and sell some on t-shirts -- via cafepress.com or zazzle.com -- to members to wear around campus. If it includes the colleges logo, the club might have to go through one of the college's vendors. Add a little markup to add some money to the club's budget and promote the club at the same time. It is a somewhat passive.
