Good article, though for completeness you could have mentioned the colours of all the stones. I guess most people know emerald is green and amethyst (usually) purple, but it wouldn't hurt to say so.

I'm looking forward to the articles about superstition and "magical" properties of gems, as these have a lot of potential for gaming.

Yeah, frighteningly enough there's a lot of mundane uses for these things as well. So I was debating how I was going to do this, mundane then magic? Mundane and magical at once?

But I remember first picking up a D&D a billion years ago and being absolutely fascinated with the list of gem uses in magic. I'm sure I'm not the only one. So that will be covered regardless.
