A very nice article. More people need to know what a sweet, gentle man Dave was.

I had the pleasure of playing with and against Dave while playtesting Battlelore, and being his game master for a few Wild West miniature games. He was always a fun and nice guy to play with. I enjoyed talking to him, and playing games with him. He will be missed by our gaming group.

Re: #14: D&D & Dave & Me

This choked me up.

When E.G.G. died, I wore an honorary avatar for a long time, but when Dave passed, I didn't know what to do.

I had a lot of personal interactions with E.G.G.- a lot of us did, it was his nature. It's part of what made him great.

Mr. Arneson always struck me as more subtle. That's part of what made him great. His emphasis on roleplaying and setting gave me the elements of the game that I enjoy most. Thank you.

He sounds like he was a swell guy and a real virtuoso of a DM.

Hi:

When I saw that his passing was reported by the BBC ("Creator of Dungeons & Dragons Dies") I knew Dave (& his creation) was important enough for the mainstream to pay attention.

You have achieved the ultimate level, Mr. D.
