Re: #18: Everything is Hungry

An example currently in the cinemas, I hear: Transformers 2 takes a scene from the first film and runs with it.

Spoiler: In sblock since it isn't in all the trailers
Remember the "mobile phone gets zapped and turns into a tiny psycho robot" scene? In the new film, a bunch of appliances in somebody's kitchen get zapped and go berserk.

Given the warping of your previous idea that I'm stealing, this is also going to be a big part of my Animal Planet game. Thanks!

Re: #18: Everything is Hungry

I'll defer to those with a deeper grasp of economics, but in a post-apocalyptic scenario, would paper money really still be valued by the survivors?

On the flip side, I could totally see a reversion to gold as the preferred medium of exchange, which has some amusing parallels with Gygaxian D&D.

As with D&D, there'd be a lot of "forget the cash, somebody get the curtains!"

Of course in D&D the curtains will eat you too. In EIH this is harder to excuse, but automatically-controlled blinds could be a pain.

In a JEREMIAH D20 game, our DM let us all start with a pillowcase full of $100 bills, just to make the point that it was only paper now.

Re: #18: Everything is Hungry

In Diane Duane's So You Want to be a Wizard, the protagonists accidentally travel to a nightmarish copy of NYC, which is populated by sentient objects - mostly cars, but they also encounter a helicopter, an elevator, a fire hydrant that eats pigeons like a frog eats flies, and a keyhole that bites one someone who touches it.

Nothing new under the sun, eh?
