I'm pretty sure this article just used "There are few things worse" and "Sometimes the best" to refer to the exact same thing.

Re: #25: Neither Hot nor Cold

Don't slight the "why remove the GM" crowd so callously.

Most of the people I know will put a game back on the shelf the moment they know it has no GM to it. (And since I belong to a local gaming guild which actually discussed this a few years ago, by "most people" I mean between one and two hundred people if not more.)

I don't mean they won't even look at it. I mean that, even if they were intrigued by it so much they were considering purchasing it, as soon as they find out it has no GM, they will decide not to get it.

In the current economy, with so many gaming products vying for our few spare coins, the lack of a GM is usually a deal-breaker.

People also felt that way when the 2nd edition of Warhammer 40K came out. And the game somehow survived.
I suppose it's really up to the players and the game itself. I've also made a GMless rpg so that I could take part of more games as a player Some liked it, some went along with it, and - of course - some didn't want to try it.
