Great column, very interesting. And there is one little thing in there that needs a LOT of expansion:

A LOT of people have old/used games in their stores. Few of them every throw them out.
Inventory has a cost. At some point, even if it's just the amount you're paying for the upkeep of that bit of shelving, you have to realize that the cost of keeping this piece of junk around is more than you're ever going to get for it.
While indulging in my hobby of taking pictures of trains with a friend, we stopped in an "antique store" in an old depot. After we left, I made the following observation:
"Not all old stuff is antiques. Some old stuff is just old stuff."
Not all old games are collectable classics. Some old games are just old games.
