Someone on another thread mentioned that there's really no easy way to do someone like Iron Man in COH. Well, since one of my all-time favorite RPG characters is Armorman (a blatant ripoff of Iron Man originally but he became a pretty deep character) I had to make an attempt to render him COHable.

What I found that worked really well for me was a Defender with Force Field/Energy Blast. It feels powerful. Granted, it's an illusion of toughness, because if I get a few thugs beating on me without the forcefield up the hit points drop real fast. But the ability to use my "repulsor beams" to throw bad guys around like rag dolls means that with good reflexes I can keep all my enemies at range and prevent a lot of attacks from all that knockdown.

I really really like this character. People have said defenders are weak, but my gut feeling is that this guy is actually the most powerful hero I made. Plus, I got tired of trying to chase down bad guys in heavy lag with my tanker - that was really annoying.

Defenders are great. They're best suited to groups, but that doesn't mean they can't dish out the pain. My defender, Simon the Magus, has radiation emmision and dark blast power. A fairly early power you can get in the Dark Blast power set is a sniper blast that can knock of the majority of an even level badguy's life in a single hit. It's got a long refresh time, can be interrupted and takes a lot of endurance to use, but on most minions it's deadly or close enough to it.

Just created a character on Freedom named Miracle Girl. Used the Iron Man archetype too....

Concept is simple, her dad is a frikin' SUPER GENIUS and designs this suit to keep her from dying of cancer. He was a former hero and shortly after trying on the suit for the first time his past comes back to haunt him, he bites it.

She modifies the armor (she isn't a dunce herself) to let her "avenge his death" and "fight crime" (cheese I know). But I managed to blend the Knight Sabers look with Iron Man. I really dig how she looks.....

So she is a Defender with Radiation Emission and Rad. Blasts.

AC (I thought it was neat at any rate....)

I like. I had a Mutants and Masterminds NPC I designed like that (sorta...the Chemo Kid (I think I like Miracle Girl a bit better for a tasteful name but then CK was supposed to be kinda tasteless)
