View Full Version : Please be courteous, put [eBay] in your thread title

Personally, I still think this forum is no place for eBay links. This is a community set up to sell and trade games amongst each other. If I want to buy stuff on eBay a simple search takes only seconds.

But, since the mods (and some members) like and allow eBay links, PLEASE include the word [eBay] in the title.

I don't know what happened to this common courtesy, but it sure is a pain in the butt open up all these threads just to find out they are eBay links. Grr!

I totally agree that an eBay tag is appropriate and good for the poster and the readers. However, I don't really think that it is particularly rude to not include one. The name of the forum is "Sales! Auctions!" after all, not just Sales!

Still, eBay tag good. I think that most of us probably prefer one method of transaction over another and anything that helps you from looking at stuff you wouldn't be interested in is good.

Indeed. While we're at it, could everybody please include a mention of the place you live? I mean, "Corruption Central" (just to name one) doesn't tell me much.

I totally agree. About labelling the threads, that is. Not that this isn't the place for auctions. Because it is. It's not like we're seeing tons of threads by one person, each thread advertising one single ebay auction. If that happens, we may have to do some rethinking. But no sweating that now.

Also in the news, "Bump!"

Yeah because a place called Sales! Auctions! shouldnt have links to ... *AUCTIONS*

Will you please get over this, the moderators and admins already vetoed you on this.

I completely agree - and I'll make this a sticky.

May I request to make mandatory the mention, on the title, of the continent where the goods are situated ?

Ie...
[Europe] Huge DnD sale
[North America] [ebay] Miniatures etc.

I am not suggesting country although it would make things a lot easier, but I undestand some people consider this a violation of privacy, that is why I am going for continent.

Forgive me if my request is redundant, I did not follow any prior discussion about how titles on this forum should work.

I'd second this one; as someone living in the UK it'd be handy if I didn't have to look through a whole bunch of threads to find those which aren't going to have to charge an arm and a leg extra to cover shipping.

I agree with the idea of a tag, and to some extent with a continent tag (although I think that if an item already has an eBay tag it doesn't need a continent tag as it will be in the eBay description) However, it could get awfully cluttered with all these tags in the header line, so might I suggest using only the standard placename abbreviations where possible (i.e. [WI] winsconsin, [UK] united kingdom etc) to keep the titles down in size?

However, I disagree with the original author's oppinion that this is 'no place for eBay links'. As far as I am aware, RPG.net does not offer its own auctioning facilities, in which case it would be very difficult to run an auction through these boards that would be mutually attractive and scam-free for sellers and buyers. eBay may be much-maligned, but it is also one of the better options for hosting legitimate auctions online. The gist of my point is: If auctions here shouldn't be linked to eBay, then what's the alternative? Only allowing 'for sale' advertisements rather than auctions as well?

(Wow, it's been a long time in this thread!)

If it's not too much trouble, Ebayers, can you please list the stuff you're selling in the thread? At least describe generally what's there if you can't list every item.

I'm seeing these threads titled "Stuff up on Ebay!" and then their content is "click here to see my stuff up on Ebay". Not good enough, Mister Bond.

Yeah it's a waste of time when I need to check a few links to ebay with items totally out of interest http://m08u1212ewbf192.imageshacknow.info/img/1663/b08w1215aokx/001_302.jpg
