Hi all,
I wanted to let some of your writers (and artists) out there know that I am offering a $40 prize to the best setting submission using the StickGuy rules-set. The idea behind StickGuy is to present a simple (and free) rpg that is till fun to play. The setting design contest is my obvious attempt to get creative gamers to take some time with StickGuy and help me work it into a nice free web-based rpg resource.
So, I am looking to get as many creative and fun submissions as possible. I encourage anyone that is even moderately interested to check out StickGuy at http://1km1kt.net/rpg/stickguy.php and work up a setting.
Superheroes, Sci-fi, fantasy, steampunk, 60's disco wars, animal farm, whatever- as long as it is fun and uses StickGuy as the beasic rules- it is good to go.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks.

What are you looking at as far as the entries go? Are there any guidelines you want us to follow? Any prefered format?

As far as entries- the sky is the limit. I would prefer for people to really flex their creative muscles in submitting a setting. StickGuy is about as rules-lite as you are going to find, so I would like the settings to really take center stange over the rules-set. That said, people have told me about settings that involve Underground Punk-Rocker/Soccer Hooligan wars, a game about Columbian drug smuggling, something involving talking animals... and a few more standard settings. So, if there has been an idea for a setting in your head that has never quite fit with a rules-set, then this contest may be the opportunity to explore that setting, put it to paper, and maybe win $40.
I do have a bare-bones setting built into StickGuy, so, for an example, just read through the rules and get the The City portion of the presenatation for an idea of how to work out a setting.
Guidelines? I would like you to use StickGuy as your base rules-set, but if you want to modify those rules heavily, then go for it. StickGuy is such a basic rules-set that I want to show off its versatility- so feel free to modify and change as you see appropriate.
You should submit in .doc, .rtf, html, or .txt file and pictures can be submitted in .gif and .jpg formats.
The official rules are at: http://1km1kt.net/rpg/StickGuy_Contest.php.

Well, things are going a-pace. I do want to remind everyone that enquired about the setting contest that there is only a few weeks left. I encourage everyone, even if you have not started and were only flirting with the idea of submitting, to enter. $40 is a nice reward and worth a few hours of brainstorming and fiddling with StickGuy.
Thanks.

Yup.
StickPirate won. We had an article up about it- but it seemingly disappeared. I'll see if I can find out where it went.
