EDIT: Whoops. This should be in Other Games. Mods, move it please?

I bought a US copy of Fire Emblem GBA on Ebay, from a Hong Kong seller. I'm pretty sure it's pirated. But before I report the seller, I want to make sure, so if anyone has a US copy of the game or previous experience with this sort of thing, I'd appreciate your thoughts.

The box is glossier than I'm used to for UK games, and the artwork's kind of blurry. But the big giveaway is that the text on the back, and in the 'instruction book', appears to be ripped from reviews and previews of the game on various websites. There aren't any actual instructions in said booklet (Advance Wars had a huge comprehensive guide) either.

So I'm 99% certain it's a fake. Just wondered if anyone could confirm that this is not the norm.

Unfortunately, the US version of the game doesn't come out until September 9th or so.

From the sounds of it, they may have sold you a Japanese knock off.

Now, did the game come with the wireless interaction plug-in?

Huh? Fire Emblem GBA came out last November. Are you thinking of the Gamecube version, which is due out in 2005?

I'm talking about the already-released GBA game (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00009WAUL/qid=1093184378/sr=8-1/ref=pd_ka_1/102-3985106-3836118?v=glance&s=videogames&n=507846), not the upcoming GC one. According to other sources, it was released in the US in November 03, and in the UK in July 04. The code is definitely the legit US release, it's just that the physical cartidge is a knock-off.

A friend just pointed out that the little Nintendo logo on the back actually says NIntondo, which clears up the last doubts I had.

hey there, I'm a first time poster on this forum and I just got a very similar copy of this game for christmas.

Front cover is too glossy, cartridge hardly fits in my GB Micro and the back of the box is OBVIOUSLY from reviews. Just letting you all know that rip offs like this are still out there.

Seeing as it was used I'm guessing that the seller was someone who didn't realise and I'll be getting my money back asap. If I don't I'll probably take legal action or something =P Either that or try paypal to get my cash back

Have a look at the spelling of "Nintendo" on the back of the cartridge, fake games I have been sent from ebay in the past often have it mispelt.

Have a loot at what the seller is selling on ebay (if it was brought on ebay). If they are selling quite a few other gba games then they will have known it was a fake they were selling you, once the negative feedback starts to build up they will just create a new seller account.

Nintendo is spelled correctly so I thought that the cartridge might have been real but it sticks out of my GB Micro more than normal and the picture is stretched whih was the main giveaway.

I've had a tomb raider game that I got at a yard sale very much like this once before. Probably the same company making all of these games =/

Thanks for the help and I'll update as to if they give me my cash back.
