House Ravenscroft is in the process of preparing its first volume for release. This will be a short d20 accessory guide for fantasy games settings. I am currently looking for the types of art outlined below. This is primarily a call for available pieces of existing artwork though the page border/element art may be commissioned out.

1. Website art
The website is in the final stages of development and I am looking for a piece of art to use in the header graphic.

Specs: 112x800 pixels, color
Rights required: non-exclusive web use only
Payment: negotiable, see below

Prior pieces of art you may have are ideal to fill this requirement as long as a 112x800 pixel portion can be lifted out and stands alone. The entire work is not needed, just the appropriate portion. Fantasy landscapes and the like would work very well. A cartographic piece may also work. This supplement is designed for high-fantasy worlds and the piece should reflect that. Something bright and airy as opposed to dark and gloomy.

2. Page border/element art
Layout for the product will begin shortly and a clean page border and related page elements are needed. (Boxes, scrollwork, etc.)

Specs: color or grayscale (though if color should be easily convertible to grayscale)
Rights required: non-exclusive print/e-print for prior art, exclusive print/e-print for comm. art.
Payment: negotiable, see below

Prior art pieces are acceptable for submission here so long as their use is not encumbered by previous sale agreement. If you have something prepared you would like to submit for consideration, please do along with your asking price and rights available. Otherwise, interested artists should submit a portfolio for consideration and further discussion. If you have done border or page element artwork before, please include those pieces.

3. Misc. art
Small pieces of miscellaneous item art will be needed. Things like rings, cups, pots/pans, misc. clothing items and the like. No weaponry or armor required. If you have pieces of prior art you’d like to submit for consideration, I’m looking for this volume as well as the next two currently planned. At the moment I’m only interested in seeing prior pieces for quick purchase.

Specs: color or grayscale (though if color should be easily convertible to grayscale)
Rights required: non-exclusive print/e-print
Payment: $2-$10 per piece, depending on size/complexity/rights available

Payment Information

For non-commissioned pieces, payment will be made at the time of purchase. Commissioned pieces will be paid 50% at start and balance on delivery.

All payments may be made by check or PayPal, your preference.

Where payment is negotiable, no definitive budget has been set. I’m flexible depending on quality and how much your piece strikes me. Please include your asking price and the rights available. This is something of a shoe-string, labor of love project so keep that in mind. For commission work, indicate your anticipated price after we discuss project details.

Credits

I believe firmly in giving proper credit where due. All artwork will be attributed to its creator in the credits section, along with a 1-2 sentence bio and link/contact information if desired.

Portfolios/submissions

A link to your portfolio is fine but if you have done representative pieces of work for the type you are seeking consideration, please make sure they are either easy to find in your portfolio or they are attached to your email. Low-resolution or watermarked portfolio submissions are fine.

Please pm me here or email me directly at drose@houseravenscroft.com.

Thank you.

First of all, I would like to thank everyone who has responded so far. I've seen some great art. If I haven't got back to you yet personally, I will.

Second, based on some questions I've been getting, I need to clarify a few things. I will also clarify pricing a bit since a lot of you are asking though I'm loathe to do so as a former purchasing manager who knows better. :D

For the web art, the size needed is 800 pixels wide x 112 tall. I apparently listed it backward so my apologies. You do not need to crop it yourself for submission, just a link to the overall picture is fine and is actually preferred.

Price-wise for this piece I am anticipating something between $20-$30 depending on the level of detail and how well it fits the overall theme of the site. I've actually gotten quite a few submissions for this so far (I guess you all have lots of landscapes no one has bought) and will probably be closing submissions on it within the next few days. I'd still like to see a cartographic piece if anyone has one to submit.

For the page border and related element art I am anticipating something between $75-$100 for a commissioned piece, substantially less for prior and non-exclusive artwork. Again this varies based on style and detail. I expect this will probably wind up being a commissioned piece so those details can be worked out before start. I'm looking for borders and elements with a high fantasy, slightly feminine appearance to them.

Also, for those of you open to bartering all or a portion of your fee, quality burstable webhosting can be arranged through an affiliate company. Burstable hosting is great for graphic-intensive sites like portfolios and galleries.

Thanks again to everyone!

The open call for web art has now closed. Page border and misc. art submissions are still being accepted.

Thanks to everyone whose submitted work so far!
