Well,

If any of you have been following any of my posts recently, you know that I have been working on a rather involved online project.

Well, we are now ready to start hunting for some creative people interested in drawing and writing.

The project is going to be rather involved and it will pay (though, not a whole lot to begin with).

I would go into more detail except that the project is massive and we have already worked up quite a bit of information, which can be found at www.baegtobar.com.

Artists interested can get in touch with me at jeremy@brierrowstudio.com.

Writers interested can get in touch with Jeffrey at jeffrey@brierrowstudio.com.

Thanks!

What sorts of material are you looking for in terms of writings? Mechanics, stats and artifacts, or more game flavor material?

What is a general guide to your potential ability to reimburse? Are we talking $.01 per word or a more flat fee per project payment?

Thanks!

-Sand

The *other* Eric Lofgren would like to know the same for writers.

Pay is based on downloads, which will grow as we grow. We expect downloads to start picking up speed towards the end of the first year.

What do your authors do once they sign on?
The first thing our authors will do is develop a plot summary and do some basic character workups. At that point, we will develop a release schedule and they will start on the fun part - writing! They will be responsible for writing at least 4,000 words per month, and that will be split into two releases for the general public. They will be a pre-reader for one other written story, and as such they will have a pre-reader for their own story as well. They will also be the co-moderators of their story’s forum. If you'd like to know more about these requirements, feel free to ask.

both erics want to know how much it will pay.

I've done the legwork of digging through the faq's online-- really well thought out, Jer. Nice and concise.

aparently, episodes of stories will be released on a biweekly or longer period. rquiring writing, cover art (color) and iterior art of either pen, gray or color work.. artist decides. ad banners are also required.

each episode of each story will be .20 each. thats two dimes.

the artist, writer, and publishers will each get a percentage of each episode sale.

no money up front--we get paid when they do.

So, technically there is no promise of payment.

was it decided that these requests for art and writing be placed in the "request for free work" sub- forum?

Hey everybody,

Thanks for all the interest! I'm excited so many people have already responded! Based on the responses I've gotten here and in my mail box, I think I need to elaborate a bit.

First and foremost - go here and read the creator FAQ - www.baegtobar.com. In fact, read all the information - it explains the setting as well as what we are doing.

So, let me explain in short:

Myself and several partners have been working on this project for well over a year. We have developed an extensive world the likes of which have never been seen before. The idea being that we want to bring something new to the fantasy genre - something that I, personally, have felt was lacking for some time - quality stories and quality artwork. What we plan to do is have a number of stories (we plan to do illustrated fiction and comics) going all at once that take place in the setting of Baeg Tobar. These stories, roughly, will be updated twice a month with a new chapter and artwork.

We're probably looking at somewhere between 3-4 illustrations a month and around 4000-5000 words a month. We want to keep the work level fairly low so that people will have time to work on this as well as do the things that they have to do to support themselves.

All payment will be based upon downloads of said story - that being said, there will be no flat fees and no up front payment. Therefore, I cannot even begin to quote a price. Trust me, I know how hard it is to make it as an artist and personally, being an artist, I won't work for nothing and I won't work for even a little. But, there is more than just money at work here, which makes me feel very strongly about this project. It will provide a unique opportunity to create something that has never been done before. You'll be working with other creatives to create something incredible. And folks, this thing can only go up.

We eventually plan to take these stories to print, as novels and also possibly as RPGs. There will also be opportunities for prints, posters, as well as the sale of original artwork through our site.

I hope that this helps answer some questions. Thank you to domino for the quote from the Baeg Tobar page.

Last, I want to say that an incredible amount of work has gone into this thing already and that we are serious about making this thing work. So, if you've ever felt the need to work with other creatives to make something incredible...I have a very strong feeling that this just might be your opportunity.

And ours as well, obviously.

My apologies if this is in the wrong forum.

There will be payment...eventually...hence the decision to post here.

But, switch this as you see fit.

Thanks!

Hey people,

We're still looking! I'm a little disappointed at the lack of interest since this post got moved. I've gotten quite a bit of submissions and we're considering a number of them still.

So please, if you think you might be interested at all, drop me a note and we can at least talk about it.

Thanks!

Hi

I dropped you an email and I hope it got through to you. I didn't attach any writing samples but if you would like to see some just drop me a line. Sounds like a fun idea.
