View Full Version : Singing the praises of Ryan A. Span, AKA Durin's Bane

I come here not to bury Durin's Bane - AKA Ryan A. Span - but to praise him. I hired him, so he banged out a terrific bit of fiction for Book of Jalan (http://jalan.flyingmice.com/jalan.html), and it was on time, under pressure, with an egotistical maniac (me) breathing over his shoulder, poking and prodding him mercilessly. He came through with an 11 on my 1-10 meter. I hired him again, paying in advance, and I haven't even decided what project he's doing yet. I just know I want him on my team. If any of you are looking for a writer and haven't hired him, you have only yourselves to blame. Meanwhile I shall saunter, laughing, to the bank.

Haven't gotten around to actually reading anything yet but...

Whoever did the cover art did a nice job as well.

Clash did all the art himself...

As for Clash: Eesh! I just did what I was told; you're the crazily nice guy with the money. :p

I can only hope people enjoy my small contribution to the Jalan coolness.

The art is immaterial, and isn't germane to this forum, so let's drop it. I started this thread to tell folks that DB did an absolutely amazing job in very little time, making the deadline with polished, quality product, and never a complaint. He was totally professional, and I just wanted people to know that. His fiction for Book of Jalan is available on his own site, and you all ought to take a read. Just damned good stuff under a lot of pressure. I cannot recommend his work highly enough.

That's right... they split the forums.

I just scan for new messages overall and sometimes forget these things.

Mind, what's up on my site is only the intro. There's more, much more, and the only way to get it is to buy the book! This tactic is part of a brand-new, never-before-seen marketing scheme that I spent decades developing while graduating from all the finest universities in the world... :D

Congrats and kudos Ryan.

The work I've done with Ryan in the past has been a blast and I'd recommend his talents to anyone looking for writers, especially one who is willing to work with you to make things move smoothly.

This man deserves your money far more than I do. I'm still impressed with Rob's design for my website, which is about ten thousand times more elegant than what I had envisioned. Three thumbs up to him!
