Christian Walker from the now defunct Scrollworks zine here. As I climb my way out of the abyss of pure screaming terror that is divorce, I find myself hungering to inflict a zine upon the gaming world. Scrollworks was a damn fine girl, but there's just no way I can bring her back. I'd rather not get into it, but let's just say that the "Press" part of Scrollworks Press (disposable income, scanner, printer, 19" flat panel display, etc) went with Walker Wife 1.0. (But goddammit the longarm stapler is mine! Heh.) Besides, aforementioned spouse was a driving force behind Scrollworks and it just wouldn't be the same. :(
So I gots to start over...
I'm working on a little project that I hope to launch in May. A simple little relaunch of the single sheet Iron Rations zine, this time in the familiar cardstock cover, digest format that zinesters so love.
I am looking for fantasy short stories - vignettes, really - on the order or 500-750 words max. This isn't a lot of space, but it can be done! At the end of the story I will most likely add d20 stats for one of the characters/beasties/magic items depending on the content, just for grins. I used to do this in Scrollworks and people seemed to like it well enough. You would, of course, retain copyright to your work and I'd be sure to send you a comp copy of the zine your work ran in.
If you're interested, e-mail me with a few samples to iron_rations_zine@yahoo.com.
Many thanks!
