A few folks around these parts have suggested that I post actual play reports of the Exalted game I play in. Our campaign doesn't have a spiffy title like a lot of other Exalted campaigns talked about here do, so I'll just call it Iorek's Circle, since my PC, Iorek Isbjorn, is probably the most familiar element of the campaign.
This past week was a relatively short session (just four hours), so we didn't really get a whole lot done. I'm a really bad note taker, so I'm doing this mostly from memory. :p
Recently, Our heroes have been in the southern deserts in search of an artifact used Iorek's First Age incarnation: the mighty sand cruiser! The SC traveled under the sands of the great burning desert churning Choas into Order. First Age Iorek, a man named Lord of the Boundless Great Fiery Sands (we'll call him Sand), hated the fey, and he apparently commisioned the SC specifically to wipe them out of the southern deserts.
In the previous session, Iorek & Co. found Sand's desert base, a city burried under a volcano. Just as they found the entrance to this city, the Circle and their lunar allies were attacked by a group of fey. The fey were destroyed, but the secret entrance wouldn't open. That's where we left off.
Yesterday's session opened with some discussion and planning before the group decided to rest for the evening. Iorek was granted a dream (our ST gives us hints and information about our First Age incarnations through dreams, which are written out in short-story form), and in this dream, Iorek re-lived one of Sand's battles against a fey army. Sand's base city had been attacked by the fey while he was out churning Chaos in his SC, and Sand was wreaking his vengence upon the fey responsible. Much grooviness; Iorek was in a much better mood upon awakening. :D
Just before dawn, the group was once again attacked by some fey. This time, members of the group noticed the fey were coming out of the very secret entrance we were looking for! So, the fey appear to have invaded Sand's city once again. Iorek was not going to stand for this.
The group finally figured out that the back door we had found would only open from the inside, so they set about looking for another way in. The main entrance was far underground where only the SC could enter. The only other entrance Iorek could remember was down through the lava-filled caldera of the volcano. Since niether of those entrances were accessible without some First Age artifacts we didn't currenly have, we needed to find a different way in.
The fey once again provided us with the answer. While searching the volcano for clues, Eventide, the Circle's Twilight caste, stumbled acorss a fey glamour (I think that's what it is called) that hid another entrance. When Iorek and Saki, the two Dawns, tried to pierce this glamour door, they were met with a hail of fey arrows. Outnumbered at least a hundred to one, the group deceided to withdraw for now and face the fey army at a later date.
Once we regrouped back at the lunar encampment, the Circle decided to continue with our original quest. The fey had been in Sand's base for at least several hundred years, so letting them stay there for a few more months while the group gained some strength wouldn't really matter that much. The group still has three more First Age Solar tombs to uncover, and one of them is a Dawn's tomb. Since each tomb we have uncovered thus far has contained some pretty groovy First Age artifacts, we're hoping the Dawn's tomb will provide the eapons we need to oust the fey army from Sand's base.
Our group meets again in two weeks, so I'll report more then.
