Hi there,

I'm the author of a number of books for the Mage: The Ascension line (including Tradition Book: Akashic Brotherhood Revised, which received two favourable reviews here at RPG.net). I'm interested in branching out into other material, especially D20 scenarios and supplements. Science fiction is one field I'd like to do work in, but traditional fantasy, horror and more lighthearted work all appeal to me. White Wolf is due to publish more of my work this year and I am on good terms with them.

Ideally, I will be hired by a stable company whose editors and developers spell out their expectations in no uncertain terms. Regular communication about a project's status as is also extremely important to me. Due to a bad experience with one publisher I will exercise some caution with any offers you may send. Please don't be put off by this; it's an indication that I'm serious about what I do.

While this isn't where I normally go to fish for work, I'd like to see if this attracts companies that I normally wouldn't have a lot of exposure to.

I will usually respond to serious queries within twenty-four hours. If you are interested in discussing a project with me please e-mail me at:

Include "RPG.net" in the subject line.

Best of luck with your games,

Take note folks...here's a very nicely composed ad. It tells me something about the work done by the person in question. I'm not a proofreader, but no obvious grammatical issues jumped out at me. Heck, he used a semicolon correctly. He also includes his real name. There is a lot to learn here.

I agree, Lewis.

I'd also like to add that if you're not as experienced as Malcolm (read: cannot cite a professional company who has published your work) then you'll stand a better chance of getting considered for freelance work if you have an online resume WITH writing samples. I cannot stress that enough.

Just my two cents...

He is also someone who was willing to take time out of his day to provide help to an aspiring writer.

Thanks again,

Hi there.

Just to update:

It looks like I'm currently booked through to mid-June. If you have a project to offer that would be due some time after this feel free to email me, but work with an expected start date of before June 15th can't be accomodated.

I've received some interesting offers, but I have to stress that you must send me information about the company you represent as well as your real name for me to be able to consider your offer. Potential contracts must take the form of two identical physical copies signed by both parties ( naturally you don't have to mail them before even talking to me). I don't do any form of "e-signing" for paid work.

In any event, I appreciate the offers. Please keep them coming!

Thanks,

Malcolm Sheppard
