Hello people. I've been working in the rpg business for the past seven or eight months now. I haven't done alot of stuff, but it's been alot of fun so far. I just wanted to show my stuff around and maybe talk to others in this business. At this moment I don't know alot of people here, but I'd love some feedback or just to talk to people in this field.
You can check out my website atwww.clstevensportfolio.com (http://www.clstevensportfolio.com)
I hope to hear from you guys

Very nice looking work! I can see you're strongly influenced by comic greats - Travis Charest, and slightly lesser known Brit geezer Frazer Irving.
Very nice. Check it out people!

Rookie no longer. Your artwork is wonderful. Welcome.
I wish they had used you in Exalted...some of the art in there is bloody awful. I hope you get a lot of work from White Wolf.
I'm very impressed. Did you go to art school?

Whoa.
just...Whoa. Amazing work.
I'd love to see more of this, and I agree with Storn that you should be doing stuff for White Wolf!
(uses all his manipulative and charisma skills to give you the idea it would be really wonderful to do some drawings for me for free...while at, it uses the same on Storn and Eric and Jon and, hell, all you other guys...tries some kabballistic rituals as well...falls over, exhausted, hopes it worked)

Holy crap!
Thanks guys! I appreciate all the great compliments. And to Storn...I actually did a bunch of stuff for Exalted. Book of Three Circles and Castebook:Dawn are the only two that are out though...I think. It means alot to me to get such positive feedback from guys as talented as you!
Thanks again!
I'll try to get some more stuff on here soon.

Chris, I just picked up the Exalted main rule book and that was what I was commenting on. A few great illos, surrounded by absolute drek.
I haven't looked thru the rest of the line, but thank god you did some work for it.
Keep us apraised of what you are up to. And feel free to chime in with your 2 cents on everyone elses artwork.

Oh yeah,
I'm primarily self-taught, but I did spend over a year at Savannah College of Art and Design. Your'e right, I'm heavily influenced by comic art Travis Charist included. Most of the stuff I've done has been with White Wolf and they've been really cool to work with. I originally wanted to do comics, but I never felt like I was good enough to cut it, so I decided to give rpgs a shot and it's been great so far.
Thanks again for the feedback

Welcome Chris.
I don't think anyone who has illo'd for WW qualifies as a rookie, either. Great work! I'd love to see more with full backgrounds.

You mean to tell me you DON'T work in comics????
I just love your stuff. I'm so jealous because I can't work like that. I have a few styles to pull from but I can't seem to do decent B+W stuff. The sherrif one reminded me a lot of Brian Bolland (Killing Joke, my favorite, big fan)
I can't say I read any US comics and barely read the brit ones but you could go far in that field. Or any open space.:o
I told Eric this and now I'll tell you.....just stop it.

Thanks alot Noel,
No, I don't work in comics. I wanted to forever, but the comic industry began to really suffer by the time I became old enough to really get into it. I still hope to some day make a book, but that days far off. If I could do just one book for Marvel or DC, my lifes ambition would be fulfilled. For now though, I'm pretty happy doing this, although I'd be alot happier if I could make some money. I don't need to tell you guys about that. I was surprised to hear you mention Bolland. I love Bolland, but I never noticed that in the cowboy piece. To be honest with you, I was inspired by Tony Harris, one of the most kickass artists ever. It's funny how everyone is jealous of each other. I wish I could do other things like watercolor or acrylics. The diversity among us is so refreshing!
Thanks again, Noel

Oh dear lord... great, another artist to instil conflicting emotions:
A) Incredible appreciation for the artist's talent = Your website's bloody amazing!!! Can't wait to see more of your work around!
B) Dammit, might as well pack away my own pencils and just keep writing, at least that's where my strength is ;)
C) Dammit, might as well pull out my own pencils and resurrect what I lost through atrophy and disuse.
THANKS for sharing your work!!!!

Thanks,
Thanks for the compliments and thanks for checking out my site. I'm glad you liked it. I don't want to discourage anyone from drawing. If nothing else, I want people to get inspired by my work. This forum has given me a reason to try harder and improve my craft and that's the best thing that you can ask for. I appreciate and value your opinions as much if not more than any publisher out there.
Thanks to all!
