Howdy folks.
Well, I haven't posted much lately because I've been really busy working on this cover. Let me give you some background -
This piece is for my project, Baeg Tobar (http://www.baegtobar.com). We're planning a massive relaunch the first week of July and I wanted a new cover for my story since the old cover is going to be used for the doorway image.
That being said, the idea of this piece came from my writer, Kristin Keck. It was to show the main characters prior to the story. This, in a sense, is the prologue to the story itself - a way to sort of get an idea of where the people from the story come from just before they are thrust into the events of the story. And to hopefully spark an interest as to why these people and moments in time are important.
I also toyed with some composition elements, varying the long, middle, and far shots, varying them up to keep things interesting and keep the eye flowing through the piece - I also pushed the backgrounds (because, folks, backgrounds tell as much, if not more, about a character than the character themselves), two indoor shots and two outdoor shots trading off. There are also various elements in the panels to help assist the eye flow.
It's hard to tell on this small copy, but the painting hanging in the upper right hand side is actually the pencils to the original cover. Heh!
Anyway, I'm pretty happy with this piece! It turned out rather well. Now...I just have to find time to colour the damn thing!
