Being the knucklehead that I am, I screwed up on my last post when I tried to edit it. Here's the pic again, and thanks much for your comment Jon.
FFG has let me post stuff from the last job I did for them. They were painted at 4 x 4 to be printed at 1.5 x 1.5. They're going to be game tokens for a new board game FFG is developing. They're certainly not in the league of Jon and Storn and the rest, but I did like this one of "Orcs".
Thanks,
Eric

HA! Can't get rid of me that easily! Two can just repost stuff!;)
I just wanted to re-itterate what I said before - this is a top piece of work - you know a piece works when you think in monster noises (or is that just me?...).
What I mean is if you're thinking too hard about technical execution straight away, the piece has missed the "magic". This is really in your face and a beautiful piece of work. Nice viewpoint.
4x4? Don't fancy that much!
Cheers Eric!

Eric, I love the motion of these orcs. I've done just one job for FF and it was hell trying to work that small. Kudos to you for pulling it off. Great vitality, motion, oncoming orgasmic onslaught of operatic orc operations.
My one criticism (hopefully constructive), is that the lead guy's head is a SMIDGE too large. I'm talking a hair's breadth. This is apparent, because of the outstretched hand in front and the size of his legs. Makes him read more like a goblin proportions, while those in back read like more human proportions.
No big deal. He's an orc, it is going to be shrunk down to 1.5x.15.
Keep posting stuff!

I sure appreciate your oppinions guys. Hopefully, I'll have more oppurtunities to develop my color in the coming months.
Jon, I don't know if this is sick or not, but I was making monster noises when I painted it. Actually, I make monster noises all the time...hmmnn...snort
Storn, good eye. You'd be a tough AD. LOL :D I need to be more attentive to the subtler things. That can be critical.
Thanks again. I'll post more if people want.

I too did some small pieces for FFG and had a real hard time coming up with designs that worked. This piece is all out action, I get the feeling that some unfortunate person or persons is about to have a bad day. Great poses. I hope the detail's not lost when it prints.
Great work!

Are you on crack? Not in the league? Slick, you are without a doubt my favorite game artist alive. I mean, Chris's stuff is breathtaking, and Storn's work is great, and Jon's work is amazing, and McHugh is great, and so on with at least four or five more artists before I even GET to Lockwood and DiTerlizzi, but it is my professional opinion that every book ever made should include some Lofgren art. Versatile? You bet. Clean as a whistle? Hell yes. Fun to look at? Undeniably.
But the main thing, and the reason that Eric Lofgren remains my personal choice for best friggin game artist alive, is that his work makes me feel like I'm there. In the picture. With orcs rushing me, or monkey beasts swarming me, or villains vanishing in front of my eyes with tendrils of icy pain tugging at their innards.
No offense to the rest of you guys. I would give up body parts to be able to draw as well as Storn, or Jon, or Chris, or Jeremy, but you can have both legs if I can be Lofgren.

Wow Matt, I sure appreciate that. Are you sure you're talking about me? I'm still trying to figure out how I could be lumped in with Tony D. and Todd, never mind Storn, Jon, Steve and the rest.
Anyway, thanks again for your kind words.

Man, with friends like Matt, you'll never have to look for work again, Eric! After seeing this piece and several others, I can't blame him.
But I think this piece really speaks volumes about the kind of artist you are.
You could have easily done much less on these small images and you chose not to. Instead of just getting the point across and show just enough to tell a story, you went the full nine and hooked up a mini masterpiece even knowing that it was going to be very small in print.
My hat's off to you, Eric. I have the feeling I can learn alot from your dedication to your craft. Forget the feeling, I know I can and will continue to admire and learn from your work.
