For those who have never heard of me, which is the vast majority of you, I am a newbie here at RPGnet. I have been around for several months, but I did not begin to post often until this February.

I have been a fiction writer for many years. I have a B.A. in English with a minor in creative writing, and I am currently working toward a M.A. in English. I have published a small number of short stories locally, and this year I was runner-up for my school's annual Mimi Zanger Memorial Award in fiction. If you would like to see a sample of my fiction, you can view one of my published pieces online at:

http://www.siue.edu/ENGLISH/RBR/2000/frames.htm

Just click "Robert McAdams" on the menu on the left. You will see two selections, "The Conflict" (a sonnet which, I swear, I never expected anyone to accept because I don't like it) and "A Place of Forgetting" (my short story).

In addition to being a writer, I have been a gamer for about ten years. Most of that time, I have been a GM. I started out with a homebrew system, moved to ADnD 2e, went back to a different homebrew system, tried GURPS, went back to my homebrew system again, and finally settled on DnD 3e.

I would like to try writing game materials now. I have only very limited experience in this area, however, and consequently I wish to begin with some practice work.

So, here is my question:

Is anyone looking (or just willing) to publish, in a free format, original game materials--adventures, supplements, NPC's, etc.--written for free by an experienced writer without much background in writing for games but a lot of background in gaming?

You would get free material, and in exchange I would expect guidance in developing my skills as a game writer. I would require, however, that anything you decide to publish (though you don't have to publish anything) must be made available for free; if I'm not getting paid, I don't think you should. If you don't see that as fair, you're not the person I should work with.

If you are interested, or if you know of a web site where someone might be able to help me, please respond to this post or e-mail me at:

Thank you all in advance.

Axelos,

Try your hand at writing freebies for Deep7...they publish free scenarios in support of their 1PG line, electronic PDFs wherein all the rules fit on a single page. The games are based, primarily, on movie genres.

I'm not sure if anyone there would have the time to provide mentoring, but at the very least, you'll get some exposure and a chance to write in the industry.

Hey, thanks! Not exactly what I had in mind, but then what ever is? I'll have a long look when I get the time.
