I'm doing a game taken from the old "Planetary Romances" and setting in a jungle setting with the people wearing a minimum of clothing. To keep true to the source material I plan on doing pictures of the women bare-breasted (normal size, no silicone) and the men wearing a basic g-string. I don't plan on this being pin-up or comic porn by a long shot (over-exaggerated sexual features/suggestive poses), yet, I don't plan on having stratigically placed wisps of hair or leaves or pasties either.
I'm wondering what experience other publishers have had doing this type of artwork or is it strictly taboo?
Any thoughts and/or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

C'mon, this is the stuff European comics for the last 30 years. Just slap a for-mature audiences label on it, suggest to retailers that they shrink wrap it (and maybe have a package or an extra book that can be used to show your product... I won't buy a book in a store that I can't see).
Tackle the issue head on. This is a game about another culture. Nudity is a survival or comfort decision.... it isn't about Britney Spears overload. Write that somewhere the readers are going to see if very quickly.
My advice, get good artists. Tell them that you want what you describedin your post. Ask them not to make it gratutious or cheesy.
I'm attaching {It has been posted before in the freelance section} a piece of my art. It is very much in the pulp style of a bygone era. Yes, the (hopefully) pretty alien has a skimpy outfit. I really wanted to keep it from being overtly sexual though. You can be the judge. I'm hoping it makes my point better than my words are. After all, I'm not a professional wordslinger.
This art was produced for Hero 5th Edition by DOJ and I have permission to post it.

Most of the pulp imagery generated by Frank Frazetta was very cheesecake. Lots of barely clad, or naked men, or women, and cats.

Do as you will, art is art, and history has shown us that art includes nudity. So long as it's not real kinky or borders on pornography, there should be no problems with taboo. In the end, someone will always have something to say about it, but that's the world we live in.
