I get the following error message (below) every time I try and submit something to the Wiki. I have to admit that I'm new to wiki's, so maybe I'm doing something wrong. Can anyone help?

Thanks,
Mark

Database error
From RPGnetWiki
A database query syntax error has occurred. This may indicate a bug in the software. The last attempted database query was:

(SQL query hidden)

from within function "SearchMySQL4::update". MySQL returned error "1016: Can't open file: 'searchindex.MYI'. (errno: 145) (localhost)".

It does that to me all the time as well. I just assume that the SQL database is a slightly different version than what the Wiki expects - possibly there was some upgrade that hasn't been put in properly?

Anyhow - the page changes have been saved. I just delete the action=submit part after I've edited a page to see what it looks like.

Actually - scratch that. The "localhost" in the error message makes me think that parameters were changed - the owner may have been running it on their own server at home, then uploaded the settings to the web and forgotten to change the localhost to the datase server. So it can't find the MySQL file needed (searchindex.MYI).

I get that (or something similar) too... when I do edits in the middle of the day. When I do 'em at night it doesn't appear. It might be related to usage.

It looks like the edits still go through, even though the message seems to indicate it doesn't. (Easy way to check is to reload the page, or check the Recent Changes).

Good wiki-ing... --Kwd

Thanks all. I guess I'll plug ahead and learn wiki'ing at full speed.

I got a similar error, on searching for 'iron heroes':

I get this same error all the time. The worst part about it is that every time I try to do a search, I get this error. This means that I cannot search the Wiki whatsoever.

Am I doing something wrong on my end?

Is this something that you RPG.net masters know about and just haven't fixed yet? It effectively limits the wiki to being a tool that can only be used privately, as a method to share information with your friends and not with the public, since you have to either know the name of the page you're trying to find, or stumble onto it via the "random page" feature.

Actually, no, it's a glitch in the Wiki.

One of the things Shannon gave me when I was anointed ... I mean appointed Czar was a little procedure to fix that.

Apparently there's a little glitch in the search index where it gets 'clogged' after a while, and someone has to go in and repair the table in order for it to work. Fortunately, it only takes a minute when found...
