If there's a niche genre or setting you'd like to see get the Sanctum treatment, but ya don't wanna write it yourself, this is the place to let us know. With any luck, I or another writer will be inspired enough to do the heavy listing for you ;)
Articles already in the works include:
- Feudal Space-Fantasy
- Cyberpunk
- Colonial America (and/or Haiti)
- WWI
- 70's Blaxsploitation
Personally, I'd like to see:
- The Red Scare
- Ancient India
- High Fantasy
- Post-Apocalyptic

I think 17th Century Europe would make a pretty cool setting for Sanctum, as there'd be a lot to work with. There's all the opportunities for Dumas-esque swashbuckling and adventure, plus there's plenty of political intrigue in the palaces and the beginnings of organized espionage and spy networks. Not to mention all the chaos, strife, and bloodshed from the wars that were constantly being waged (particularly the Thirty Years' War in the first half of the century). Then there's the stuff being done ny the natural scientists and alchemists too. :) Finally, the later part of it could dovetail into a Colonial America/Caribbean setting as well.

Hi Dan,
Anyone tackling the post-apoc genre yet? It's always been a favorite of mine, so I'd be willing to give it a shot if no one else has mentioned interest in it yet.

Here's what flew through my head, if anyone wants them: Ancient China, Ancient Japan (2 seperate genres Dan, TWO! lol No samurai kung-fu! lol), Japanese Schoolkids, American Mobster, Boyz N Tha Hood, and (here's the weird one) CSI. the last one I'd like to see in a high fantasy setting where the rules of magic are just another physics. Would work really well in d20, where all your munchkins know the spell effects way too well. Put thatknowleds to (detective) work!

Now that I've seen where you're going with it, I really love the Sanctum column and can't wait for the next installment.
My suggestions for genres to tackle:
--1950's/60's B-movie
--High-Tech Espionage
--Cartoons/Intelligent Talking Animals
(That last one just because it would be a kick to see it written up as a Sanctum setting with the Warlocks and everything. And it would conjure up my fond(?) memories of the two silliest RPG products of all time...

I've been working an a game for a while, that had some elemnts similar to this. Its after a world war III, so the action is stuck within acrologies or undergrond cities due to the radiation and chemicle tainted outside. However, some of the weapons from the war are still around - namely the Demons and Vampires. Demons are inhuman semi-intelegent creatures - Hunters, Tyrants, William birkin from Resident Evil are the examples here. Vampires are aughmented humans - and some of them co-exist with the norms, but not all.
Players are cast like paranoia trouble shooters - maintainece, justice, and military all in one (though without the clones or backstabbing ... ususaly)
Presumably it would only take a change in termonoligy to adapt it to sanctum. This would cover both the post apocalytic and cyberpunk geners if you tried. Sc-fi too, if you consdier that since there is no outside, it might as well be the vacume of space or an alien world as tainted earth.

The Korean War 1950-1953. The Forgotten War...is there an underlying reason for it to be forgotten?
I would be curious to see how human waves of refugees, Red invaders, jet fighters, helicopters and the 38th Paralell could paralell in Sanctum.
Sanctum should touch on this subject because there isn't much out there at present. A focus on a well-neglected subject is like finding fresh material.
This could tie in nicely with Cold war paranoia and later 50's B-movie hysteria. Since there are still ongoing hostilities along the DMZ today, this could have long-time potential.

Agreed. Anybody out there with a knowledge of the Korean War and the sheer strength of will to write an article?
