Disliking politics is par for the course.
To me, it comes down to "why can't everyone be a little nicer?"
The fact is, when I get burned for my own flaws, that's fine. When I get burned because someone had it in for me, that's politics I can do without. Those kind of people don't need to be in a social situation, they need to be in a firing line, up against the wall.
