If working many years of retail has taught me anything it is ... be careful not to alienate your customers.
I always remember the retail proverb that a happy customer only tells two friends, while an unhappy one tells ten. You don't want to be shooting yourself in the foot by alienating your customers.
The worse thing that is going to happen is they are going to tell their big brother/friends how much of an 'a##@#@!#@' you are and they won't shop with you anymore. Worse (and I don't know the age of these guys you had in your store) in ten years time they could be the next Bill Gates' and they will remember what happened to them, suffice to say I have seen something similar happen.
But of course it is your store and more importantly you have the right to do what ever you please with it. Building sales and ensuring your survival (and more importantly profit) is the reason you are in the biz in the first place - you know your territory and you know the potential for growth.
