Pornography is a wise choice since like RPGs it: interests mostly young, usually hunder 30s, ,males; it is not very respected outside of its customer base; and it usually has gorgeous art.

Some other choices:
- Wargames, of course (which sadly lack gorgeous art).
- The software industry (which has gorgeous art in links to RPGs and pornography).
- Sport articles (which may have gorgeous art).

But there is *much* more money in the porn industry than RPGs...we're talking billions of dollars here.

I would speculate that the reason probably has to do with a larger number of people in our current media saturated, individual focused, commercialized, mass market economy enjoying their dose of imaginative content prepackaged, assembled, and ready to just take in and enjoy. I contras this to gaming where one has to more actively engage in imagining, in a shared social context which allows for even greater shared imagining.

I am interested to see the comparison, which I think is quite accurate in some ways.

Yes, that and that it has sex in it...

I think, Hermetic, that you are drastically underestimating the marketting power of naked women, in the above equation.
