No, it's not the interest Skotos may have on RPGnet for the purposes of development. This I can understand.
What puzzles me is what's the marketing purpose of owning RPGnet. How does RPGnet contribute to Skotos business?

Tell nobody but what realy worries me is not the global conspiracies. It's the other ones. The baker... the way he looks at me when I order a baguette... he is up to something.

Well, there's the banner ads (granted lots of companies are represented, but Skotos is certainly highly visible in the mix). Plus there's the whole Chat Theatre thing; those are run using the Skotos gaming engine, so I expect there's some hope that if RPGnetters think the Chat is nifty, then they'll investigate Skotos' games and find them nifty too--enough so that they'll start paying to play.
Plus there's the fact that the Skotos folks simply have good taste--they know cool stuff when they see it, and if they want to reach out a helping hand to keep that cool stuff on the 'net, more power too 'em, says I.
