Here I was thinking that D&D would become such a financial liability for Hasbro in the next 9 years that you'd be able to make them an offer they couldn't refuse off the income of an aspiring, unknown writer.

Charles: "I want to buy D&D. Here's $20."
Hasbro: "Take it! For the love of God, take the twenty!"
