I loved this article and all the responses people have made to it. The one thing that amazed me was that no one mentioned the fact that what was described here was basically just converting D&D back to it's original edition. BRILLIANT!!!
I remember the days of Basic, Expert, Intermediate and Master level D&D. Each book only detailing about 8-10 levels and just about everything you suggested. And then for those who wanted more, there was the Advanced D&D with more rules and all in hardcovers.
