View Full Version : [COH] Guardian thread

Per a discussion with Psyte, I thought we'd try to round up all the Guardian players (if any). I figure we could friend each other, and talk about SGs or maybe a coalition. I'd actually like to make a call out that anyone from RPG.net with a fairly vanilla superhero concept is welcome to join the Unstoppable Guardians, but of course if someone has an active group I'd be happy to talk about that instead. Mainly I'd like to scrape together a few people to play with on a casual basis.

Mine:

Velvet Ant, MA/SR Scrapper 34
This is my main. She's the leader of the Unstoppable Guardians, which has dwindled to no other active players at this point.

Rosamaria Torres, Ice/Kin Controller 8
No affiliations, often duo with my real life SO.

Hola!

The two groups I'm involved in on Guardian, The Seraphim Order (COH) and the Canon of the Fallen Saints (COV) are irregular runners spread across various American time zones (primarily PST, Alaska, and HST, with some EST love to boot). So if you're looking for an uber active group, we might not be for you. That being said, when we are on we're great for teams, and are pretty social.

I'm on RPGnet's chat channel, so that's a nice way to see if I'm around. Otherwise, look for:

COH: Psyte (34), Meridian (10?)
COV: Depeche (16), Empire (18)

I recently culled some alts. Also, I have another Psyte on Freedom with the Young Paragons, so if I say "I'm playing Psyte," make sure you know which server :D

Freedom Psyte is Emp/Psi (level 8). Guardian Psyte is my main; Illusion/Emp (level 34).

LadyShadow, one of the leaders of both SG's, and I are kind of wondering what direction we should take the two groups: so if you join you can help redefine a preexisting SG (both of which have bases with power and control). We have no AT restrictions, just the typical DBAD requirement.*

Come and join us!

~Chikahiro, aka Psyte

BTW, just finished Seer Marino's arc in COV with Empire (no spoilers for the others, please!). I have it cued up for Depeche right now (1-2 missions into it?). If you're low to high teens come and join us! I tend to play later in the evening/night, though.

Who's the ruling body of the Seraphim Order? What kind of direction were you thinking about?

The Unstoppable Guardians was supposed to be a kind of Justice League/Avengers inspired group with the main requirement that people be polite and have good names and costumes, with no particular expectation of being super active.

I will admit, the name Seraphim Order does not thrill me, but it's not a deal-breaker.

I have a couple of hero characters on Guardian, my #2 and #3 guys really. I haven't played them much lately, because I've been really focusing on my main (on Freedom) the last couple of weeks.

Nighthood, a level 16 Dark/Dark scrapper. Used to be only a duo character with a "RL" friend, but he's moved back to WoW.

Doc Bobaloo, a level 10 or 11 Grav/Kin Controller.

I have a couple of sub-lvl 10 Villians as well.

I will admit, the name Seraphim Order does not thrill me, but it's not a deal-breaker.

1) There's just a few of us who are at the "Leader" rank. Nothing formal. The Seraphim Order was born out of a another SG called The Rising Storm(?) that had an uber-long roster of people who didn't play anymore. We inherited this Storm from those players, and after a while (since we didn't want to make any big changes like kicking players) we decided to strike out on our own. If those guys come back, they'll find their SG still intact while we're on our merry little way. The Canon of the Fallen Saints is the sister VG to TSO, so there's some carry-over there.

2) What kind of direction? Well, right now we're a loose collection of players who enjoy each other's company when we're on at the same time. That's it. Lady and I talked briefly before about maybe trying to develop a focus, but nothing's really come of that thus far.

3) Other than DBAD, we have no requirements. Generally, however, the way you get invited is one of us has run a mission with you and liked you, or you're a friend, or something like that. We've never (afaik) blindly invited people, nor spammed the broadcast channel. We have no requirements in terms of activity, either, and at this time have no issues with alts (most of us have several on the rosters).

Basic info:
Canon of the Fallen Saints
"Unwavering, our eyes still gaze up."
Team colors: Red/Black
Ranks: Saint, Muse, Sage, Philosopher, Wanderer

The Seraphim Order
"We shine brightest in the darkness."
Team colors: White/Blue
Ranks: Avatar of Light, Arch Angel, Angelic Captain, Guardian Angel, Angel

CotFS's base has a very down to earth feel - tech, more practical, function over form. TSO's base is more form over function, and has an attempt at a more Asiany/magic touch to it. Toons in both SGs range from no bio to alts have an interlinking backstory (mine). At this time there are no dedicated RPers that I know of in either (although I will RP on occassion - I tend to to that more on Virtue and Freedom, though). I sincerely doubt anybody would object to that, however.

My Gf and i run the Children of the Gods supergroup. The hook is that we are children of the gods, natch :P

Mostly friends from RL, but we're always interested in teaming with others, or forming a coalition, or getting new people involved.

Send me a tell, if you're interested

I'm kind of a sporadic player - I'll ignore the game for weeks and then play every night for a week or so - but my main hero is on Guardian. Kamose the Egyptian is a level-15 fire/fire blaster.

I'll definitely keep it in mind to look y'all up. I just seem to have hit a sweet spot with my main, an Inv/SS tank going through levels 26 to 29 (almost 30). Running through Striga and Croatoa, gaining cool powers (Especially Rage. Rage has changed everything.) and otherwise getting to new content. I'll probably want a break soon after hitting 30, and I'm starting to "miss" my Guardian guys.

IDK know if it matters, but I'm also Mountain Time zone and casual.

Okay - Seraphim Order update:

While we're not setting any particular goals, we are now officially RP friendly (always were, but never said, I guess). I and Lady do like PVP once in a while, so if you're into that, well, you've got two more folks to watch your back. Justice Squid will go into pvp zones, although I don't know if he's into it that much or not (typically, we've always done zone missions, and group for safety reasons).

Still no AT/Origin/etc restrictions or requirements. Don't see that changing, either.

If you're interested, let me know. If not, no worries.

For as small a group as we are, we are welcoming members of RPGnet who'd like to join us. Everybody is pretty cool, although the SG itself is not a RP one. That being said, we team well, and have been running TF's almost every other Saturday for the past month to two months.

This weekend (May 6) we will be running the Cavern of Transcendance, which is the final mission of the Hollow's story arc. As some of you may know, this is a tough trial, but doable. The time will be set later this week.

If you can make it, cool. If not, no worries.

?

There's no roster...

With some help you can be eligable by Saturday if you're not between levels 12-15.

If you overshoot (say, you hit 16, for example), the game will auto-exemplar you down to 15, and you can join in anyhow.

I'm not sure what toons the others from Seraphim will be using, but I can almost guarantee that most of them will be exemplaring. Terra Geiger, my toon with the Trial available, is level 14, but that's about it. I *think* Psyte still has the trial available, I'm not sure (need to check) - she's 35 right now, but using her might be easier (can't remember what her build is like around that level - she should still have group invis, superiour invis and TP ally).

Ooooo......a Guardian thread. I though I was the only one. :(

Anyway, it would be great to see you guys in Paragon. I think I'm on the RPGnet channel. I turned channel chat off when I joined the Legion of Catgirls channel. They're nice and all but they never.....ever.....ever....stop talking. My channel chat window was a disaster. So I turned it off. I'll have to check later.

If you ever see me on, send me a tell. I used to run solo but then I discovered the beauty of teams and now...well...I'm a teaming fiend.

My usual roster is:
Miss. Mercury---------Lvl 50---MA/SR Scrapper
Inferna-mole----------Lvl 35---SP/DA Scrapper
Sarah Starr------------Lvl 17---PB (human form all the way, baby!!!)
Orion the Hunter-----Lvl 10---Bow/DV Blaster
Doc. Phantom---------Lvl 9----DM/Rad Defender
Doc. Vicious------------Lvl 9----Earth/Emp Troller (My wife, Lady Vicious and my son, Kid Vicious, are always teamed, and we'd love the company. Yes, we even have matching Sendai suits and all that)

If you need another for a TF some day, send me an email and I'll see what I can do. I usually run in the Original Band of the Hand SG. We're all buds and talk on Vent. I really don't mind sidekicking, it's one of my favorite things about the game.

See you all around!!!:)

Actually, this is how I handle chat:

Click on "1" on the chat window. It'll bring up an empty window that says "Add tab" or something like that. Click the button. When it brings up the channels available window, just add RPG.net, then press okay. Then, right click on the tab, select "add tab," and repeat for Legion of Catgirls.

Go to the bottom window, and repeat, but have the first channel be Team, then add in whatever else you need (I recommend SG chat, private messages). Call that one Team.

On the bottom of the chat window, select the last button, "A," which is Active chat. Whatever window you click on is the channel you'll chat in. So, for me, I've got a Team chat tab and a RPGnet chat tab, and just click when I want to change who I'm talking to.

Okay - I haven't heard back from the others yet, although when chatting in-game, Saturday night came up (I might not be able to make that, though).

Since my Earth/Rad has it, I'll be doing the Cavern of Transcendance Saturday, 10 am HST / 1 pm PST / 4 pm EST. It takes up to an hour to complete (timed mission). We'll need a total of 8 people to do it between the levels of 12-15, I think, although if you're higher it should auto-exemplar you. Anybody with Teleport Ally and Invisibility/Group Invisibility/Grant Invisibility/etc will be utterly loved.

I'll wait at the contact for about 30 minutes or so. If we don't get a full team, I guess we can try again some other time. I've only done this once, and it was a while ago at that. I can't guarantee I remember how things work O_o

Time permitting, I'm going to go to Bloody Bay (gotta get one more level on Terra to enter), and try and get a Shivan - PETS HELP, if for no other reason that when it dies, it wasn't us ^_^

Poor gloopies, how I abuse them so...

Chikahiro
05-06-2006, 12:28 PM

Saturday, June 10 - Citadel Task Force
At 12 noon, Pacific Standard Time, The Seraphim Order is hoping to run the Citadel Task Force. It starts off in Talos, runs levels 25-31, and requires 6 people on the team. If you're interested, leave a message here, or contact me @Psyte in game. I will try to be there, and would love to see a good group going for this. If there's too many people, well, maybe we can start a second group. Who knows ^_^

Well, we're doing the Citadel TF (taking a break due to server work). Sadly, once a TF is started, new members cannot be added to it. Also, TFs have a level range associated with them; you must be at least level x, and if you're above level y, you'll be exemplared down to y.

They can be fun, though ^_^

Chikahiro
06-10-2006, 09:16 PM
In about 2-3 weeks we'll be going through the first respec trial (one of Seraphim's leaders has got finals and a vacation filling up the next 2 weeks). I can keep you guys posted if you like.

Thanks for the help - the TF went great, and had only one fatality. We pretty much dominated Vandal, excessive regen and all.

Oh, and I might be looking for ways to speed up my leveling for Terra Geiger (Earth/Rad) so she'll be eligable for Terra Volta (no relation). 10 levels in 2 weeks... oy.

The Super Cats Action Pack (http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?t=268551) now resides on Guardian and is recruiting. We'll get coalitions going with other Guardian groups (including the Seraphim Order, to which Velvet Ant ostensibly belongs).

Chikahiro
06-12-2006, 02:39 PM
FYI: We're taking out our Empowerment Station for now. It seems the buff is a bit small, and although its supposed to stack, it's allegedly bugged so it doesn't. And although most of our salvage is junk right now, it's takes a lot of refined salvage to get the buff in the first place. So, while nice, the ES isn't compelling enough for us to keep ours. (http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=5727907&page=0&view=&sb=5&o=&fpart=1&vc=1) We'll be selling it along with our Bowflex, our Ronco Routisserie, and a box of old Atari games.

Well, as our first act of Coalition-ish-ness, I would like to propose a salvage swap. I have 9 Tech Material and 4 Tech Power refined salvage bits. I would like to trade them on a 1 for 1 basis for Mystic Elements and Mystic Foci.

Seraphim is a magic motif'd SG, so this tech stuff doesn't help me much with base construction. Let me know if you'd like to take me up on this.

Chikahiro

Do we have a time yet? I think Croatoa/Katie Hammon takes about 3-4 hours to complete. I've got somewhere to go around 12-1pm HST, so I don't know if I can be there for the whole thing. However, I *can* be there for the hard part, which is getting 10-times the Victor (the first mission). You'd better bring some combat ready toons, it'll be tough otherwise.

Tentatively speaking, looks like we'll be able to start trading stuff again! (http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?t=269391)

• The Children of the Gods - Trade Tech for Magic salvage
• The Seraphim Order - Trade Tech for Magic salvage

Did I miss anyone?

I *might* offer Influence for Salvage later on...not sure what a fair price would be, though (500 per salvage? 1.5k per refined?). If I did it would be primarily to benefit SCAP, since they're still pretty new and the extra influence could be helpful for the newer/lower level members. Assuming, of course, I don't completely offend them with the suggestion O_o

pawsplay
06-15-2006, 07:04 PM
Well, you know, Velvet Ant could personally bankroll the Super Cats with over three million influence is she felt like it. :) I don't think anyone has even gotten "stuck" yet. And Commander Aslan has already received several spontaneous giveaways by higher level players, including 99,999 influence someone slipped him at the entrance to Perez.

At the same time, I don't know what to offer SCAP since you guys aren't base building yet (decided on tech or magic yet?), and we can't trade prestige (which would probably be of the greatest use for you guys). It would suck to trade salvage since you can't use it until you get a buffer or a worktable...

Just a few details:

* The Seraphim Order is a small, non-RPGnet SG. We have maybe 3-6 active members.

* Most of our players (at least four of us) are closer to the West Coast. Two of those four are in Washington (Seattle?), one is in Alaska, and I'm in Hawaii (there's another Hawaii player, but I'm not sure how often he's on - I keep missing him).

* We are casual, simply put. No real requirements, to be honest. Play hours vary, no hardcore PVP or TF schedule, either. We do ask that you keep low level characters in SG mode, but once you hit 25 it's optional. Oh, and don't be a dick (http://www.thinkgeek.com/images/products/zoom/pa_jesus_says.jpg).

Want to join? Ask when I'm on. Pawsplay/Highroller is a member, but not sure if Velvet Ant has invite privileges.

We missed it too (the TF on Saturday). So, we'll just have to reschedule for another time. It'll have to be in a month, though. Family vacation road trip all the way down the west coast begins on Tuesday. Three weeks with no CoX. Ouch.

Because one of my RAM sticks died on me, I'm now at 512 megs instead of 1g (some of you have heard my whining already O_O). Anyhow, I was about due for a break anyhow, so I might not be on for a while (maybe a month or so) since I need to set aside some money for RAM, and I'm about to buy a new computer anyhow (A Mac Mini, not doing Bootcamp, I don't think).

If you want to see me in-game (and I'd feel really loved if you did), just post here or jump onto Guild Wars (which runs fine for me with only 512, go figure) and add Yojimbode Genki to your friends list.

Sorry! Hope to be back soon - might jump onto COV when I come back to boot.

July 8, 12 noon, Pacific Standard Time

The Seraphim Order will be doing Katie Hammon's Task Force in Croatoa. Katie's TF is for characters levels 30-34, and requires 6 players. Rewards include a nice shiney badge (10 times the Victor), a witch's hat costume piece, and a summonable Katie temp power (good for 5 uses), in addition to all the normal XP, Influence and/or Prestige.

The first mission is the hardest - it's pretty much cake after that :D

Just started a new villain on COV/Guardian - Doctor Nightmare, a psi-psi Dominator around level 7 right now.

Global handle sdarkly

You can be the nemesis of my Defender on Guardian, Dr Nightmantis! Dark/Dark.

I've just got CoV to add to my CoH, as well as a 2 month timecard.

SO... that being said, my hero is Dr Nightmantis - level 16, though I may make a new one.

Also, where should I make a villain?

Anything going on with the Guardian folks?
I'd like to try a TF!

How to decide where to start a character:

1) Find people you like.
2) Find out where they're playing.
3) Roll your toon on that server.

there's a lot of VGs out there - some longstanding, some novelty. Try'em both ^_^

At some point in the near(?) future Seraphim will swallow hard and do Positron's Task Force (which is levels 12-15; you're eligable). I'll try and keep folks posted on our suicide run O_O

Notice: We're moving!

Canon of the Fallen Saints, Seraphim's COV sister on Guardian, is going to be moving to Protector in order to accomodate the alt-itis of several Seraphim members. This will not affect Seraphim in any way other than those members will now probably have more alts on Seraphim (useful for farm prestige, I suppose - oh, and fun, duh).

(Farming fun?)

(Is that legal?)

(What does a fun plant look like?)

Anyhow.

The Seraphim Order will be taking another stab at Katie Hammon/Croatoa Task Force. We had an abortive attempt at it, getting up to "8-times the Victor," but due to people dropping out and a few other things we never got "10-times the Victor." The remaining TF members did finish the task force, but not having gotten 10-times? We must be redeemed!

Come and join us!

In preperation for Apple's WWDC (World Wide Developer's Conference) and seeing if it will have any bearing on my upcoming computer purchase, I've temporarily cancelled my City of Heroes account. So I will be playing the fool out of COH up until August 4. I am also going to be hedging back on some other regular recreational/entertainment expenses in the meantime. By forgoing some of my more expensive pleasures, I will save about $150 in addition to the amount I'm already setting aside for my Mac Mini + RAM + KVM (dear lord that's well over $1k) and additional RAM for my PC (so I'll go from 512 to 1g or 1.5g - we'll see).

Just to let you guys know in case you go looking for me in-game after that point.

I will probably be stuck on Guild Wars for a while (since that's free monthly), getting back to KOTOR, or maybe even on Cabal Online (I applied for the beta - see if I get accepted). If you have any suggested games for me to try out in the meantime, that's cool too.

Anyhow, I hope to see everyone in-game a few times before I take this little break. If you want to speed it up you're more than welcome to send money. At anyrate, once I make my purchases expect to see me back with a vengance!

Earendil and Belle Noir would love to be in on the Croatoa TF at noon! We lost our globals, so hopefully if we just show up and hang around, you'll be able to find us!

Christine - pleasure as always. I asked Empress to keep me informed of stuff they're doing, so that way I can post here upcoming TF's, trials, etc. Just tell'em Psyte sent ya. They like you two, so that's *always* a plus.

The Croatoa TF was great fun! Belle had done it before but Earendil was chafing at having only gotten to Eight Times the Victor on his previous attempt.

Thanks for making room for my friend Jen (Cyborg Angel) too. And getting to battle all three of the monsters as well was quite a bonus! Though I still feel bad for one-shotting Sally like that. I didn't REALLY expect it to work :(

Saturday, maybe around 1 or 2 p.m. PST, we're going to be either running normal missions OR heading to Warburg to take advantage of the DoubleXP Weekend. I'll give more details as I'm able to.

While I'd love to run Nukes in Warburg (and we might!), I'd imagine we'll also be doing door missions there to avoid "less than friendly" people. So far it'll be myself, Speedzone and Empress, so that's the beginnings of a good Warburg group (going alone isn't overly recommended, sooo).

Let us know if you have any other ideas. We're doing that instead of a Task Force because I'd have to EX otherwise (very nice of Empress making that call - I would've just used Terra, but she can't do much yet).

I'm still based mostly on Guardian.
My Wife and I run the chidlren of the Gods, a divine origin type of Super Group, with a number of our players coming back. Our founders are at 49.6 and 47 at the moment, with a group of lowbies hitting the late teens.

I also play Crazed Scientist (Robots/FF MM) on Guardian, looking to either start a VG, or join an existing one. He just hit level 22, and will probably have a couple of other friends joining him.

Just got into playing last Wednesday. Willing to play just about any server but Protector, because I've promised those character slots to my younger brother.

By the way - it would seem that close to a year after inception, the Seraphim Order is fading off. I think (including myself) there's maybe 3 of us who play anymore, or at least play on Guardian. I've moved two of my alts to the Mystian Kingdom, and might move Psyte over there too.

I still have my Illusion/Storm guy around, although he's still puny level :P
