A Letter From Prague

I'm looking for some more freelance illustration work to do (*coughgalleryinmysigcough*), and I'm wondering which companies I should start sending stuff to first. Who needs art the most? Who've you had good experiences with? What should I say when they ask me what my rates are?

I recommend sending your work to companies whose products you like. If you dont play rpgs, here is a list of companies:
http://www.darkshire.net/jhkim/rpg/companies/alphabetical/0-9.html
some of the companies on the list are gone now, but most of the links work.
I would also recommend sending your work to companies who use art that looks like yours. The stuff on your site was tough to navigate through, cause its deviantart. I recommend getting a real site if youre really gonna do this right.
How much to money to ask for? How much do you think you are worth? or, how much do you need in order to survive? Some people say that a full page B&W illo is worth $100( that means a 1/2 page is 50, and a 1/4 is 25). But not many people can survive on getting paid that little per illo. And im the KING of living on very little.
so make your page rate higher if you think people will pay it! Some companies dont negotiate i guess, others do.
good luck

Morrigan Press has an open call for some artwork featuring Dragons a little way down this forum.
