btw, does anyone have any advice for a Necromancer? I was kinda looking forward to having an ever growing horde of minions rampaging across the countryside but all I seem to be able to summon are some crappy ranged attackers... Add to that how much the summoning spell costs, I can only really have 2 around at the most :(

Depending on your level this will change. Always make sure death is maxed and gradualy your minions will get bigger, last lonerger and kick more arse.

Minion-focused necromancers don't come into their own until higher levels, because the number of minions you can have is capped by your Death attribute, and because you rely on Soul Reaping to refill your energy when a minion or enemy dies*. You need fairly high scores in both to do the minion army thing effectively.

* This mechanic has changed recently; it used to be that a minion master didn't even need to think about energy because SR kicked in on every death. At the moment, it's limited to every 5 secs, so you may need to bring another means of managing your energy, like Signet of Lost Souls, or the aforementioned Glyph of Lesser Energy.

And more numerous. Soul Reaping is also essential for offsetting the enormous costs once you get going.

Hmm. All this advice might be handy for me too.

Currently a lvl 10 Necro/Warrior, and getting my arse handed to me by Charr in post-Searing Ascalon. Actually, the Charr aren't the problem, as I can get minions from them. It's all the Elementals that cause me grief.

Perhaps I'll switch to a different build for a while, abandon any ideas of minion hordes for the time being.

Anyone have any other suggestions?

Doesn't help that I can only find lvl 6 henchies.

N/W is a suboptimal build, unless you're just using the /w for Tactics defensive stances... and even so, you should be nowhere near the front in your caster squishy armour.

Just got my first GW chapter, Factions (have the other two coming).

If I could get an invite as Dal Koran, that would be the awesome :D

Now that's service!

After hitting the monastery and watching my FPS tank to the background DL, I've gone -image, so I'll be back on in a bit...

How does one go about getting an invitation to the Guild?

Darkon Iceingsun is my first character, warrior/monk. Still learning the ropes and surprised that I'm already 9th level.

Having players on both sides of the big pond means some pretty incredible response times! :D

Hey, the two of us that checked to make the invite are from opposite sides of the pond!

Whenever I see a request, I log in right then to send an invite.

Usually (but not always), I'm the first in. My bank definitely feels it, but that's fine.

Hey, I just started GW as well. My first character is a Necro named Ultan Harrowgrave. I'd love an invite! :)

Resurrection Signet is really easy to get... there's a quest somewhere in Old Ascalon that asks you to group with another person, then talk to the quest giver. That's it. Then you get your res signet.

Actually, I think the quest giver is stood next to the resurrection portal outside the city gates.

You know, I must've missed that one.

Is there another place to pick up the Resurrection Signet or is that on pre and psot sear?

I imagine you could buy it from the skill trainer in post-sear Ascalon.

Stupid question.

Can you log onto Guild Wars from any computer with your user id and password or no?

Madcat
06-05-2007, 11:53 AM
As long as GW is installed on it, I can't see why not.

Though obviously, if it's a public computer (netcafe or whatver), make sure you're happy that it's free of keyloggers.

So the PC has to have Guild Wars logged onto it though eh? Can you instal Guild wars on more than one PC?

Mr. Sanity

You can install Guild Wars on as many machines as you wish. All access to the gameplay is controlled through accounts.

So ... June now ... are we going to make Dasha Vestibule runs? To help those of us (like me) who haven't been able to complete it yet?

If that falls through, I'd be happy to do a run through the alternate mission (which is lots of fun) on say a Friday or Saturday evening, US time.

Elizabeth Brooks

I'd suggest posting two or three days that you can do Dasha Vestibule and asking "Is one of these okay with people?" and basically just forcing the issue. :)

Vaguely asking or proposing that something gets done never works.

You either need to do it right then and there, rounding a group up on the alliance channel, or set a date and time - which will either get you help at that time, or at least open the time up to negotiation.

But if you just say, 'Ooh I'd like to do so-and-so whenever', people aren't able to even think about comitting.

Sometime after June 10th I'd be interested in Dasha Vestibule.

After I'm back at my home computer an' stuff I'll say more.

I still wonder if killing that final charr boss with the catapult was the result of a bug, or of them making Normal Mode noticeably easier than Hard Mode... :D

Elizabeth Brooks
06-07-2007, 06:53 PM
What happened with the catapult now?

Varkias
06-10-2007, 01:39 PM
It used to be that after firing off the 2nd catapult (maybe a couple of times, if you had someone to draw enemies into firing range), you'd run up the stairs of the fort to fight the final boss Charr.

This time, as I used the 2nd catapult, I saw that a boss was among the enemies running away from it. I thought they'd all get away, but as the explosion hit, the mission suddenly ended. Apparently the catapult hit that final boss Charr. It was all very sudden and unexpected to me, given past experience. :D

Yeah, it happened to me once many moons ago too. Sometimes, luck smiles on you. Other times, luck decides you haven't faced enough adversity.
