Used to be in the Lions, was a Prince Bishop's Man for a couple of years before leaving.
To join the Dragons.

woolTECH, I just got the joke in your avatar.
Rule one: We don't talk about Jelly Club.
Rule two: We don't eat the jelly. Especially after John/Skeld has been in it.

To my great shame, I was never a member of the illustrious Jelly Club and please, oh please, don't post them here.
I play Sir Malekai Ebonblade, former Lions Ambassador to the Dragons, now one of Kiera's ragtag lot.

It certainly is a small world. I'm currently at home with two friends of Zoe's and her ex.
Many fatalities on this one?

Tell them to tell her Woolley says hi. :)
Not sure if IC word's got back from the event yet, so I won't give details, but yeah. There were some deaths. Was fun to monster - sneaking round the woods as a skaven was a nice change from dwarven shieldwalls.
As for trying CP - LT's the first system I joined, and I have fun there and know a lot of decent people, so no point moving. When I get bored/rich I'll prob give Maelstrom a shot.

Well, M events are cheaper than LT ones (and there even tends to be hot water in the showers!).

Gimby? As in Dave from Durham?
And I have several friends that play CP, and frankly, I think I prefer the LT system, although what happens with the re-write will affect that (of course).
And woolTECH, I point you towards www.celestialknights.org.uk which is the Lions message board. You won't be able to register, not being a Lion, but there are two guest fora (one IC and one OOC) where we can talk publicly.

Heres hoping that the Cataclysm will live up to the hype.
Snoopy

Paul of the ginger beard that was president of Assassins...
I'm a little... apprehensive about the aims of the cataclysm -- directing OOC rules changes by (effectively) an IC vote... could be tricky!
woolTECH
05-08-2006, 06:22 PM
So far as I know, which isn't very far I must confess, the OOC rules are mostly decided and it's just the background that'll be changed by the Cataclysm, though obviously power levels are ooc-rules based, as are rituals etc.
Meh. Guess it's just wait and see.
It's awkward, because Dai the Dwarf wants to live in a clam, safe, steady, unchanging sort of world, by Woolley the Player wants to have conflict and danger and a constant battle to create that world.
What do you think of this Cadre stuff? Not a fan meself. The Dragons have basically told them to sod off, which I like.
Snoopy
05-09-2006, 05:46 AM
A number of the Lions have told them to sod off as well. My character really quite likes the idea of the War Cadre, with everything changing all the time (he's Fey!). Everyone I know, though, is dead set against Famine, and that's the main line I'm taking. War is preferable, don't really care between Peace and Feast, but Famine must not win at any cost.

We're just wondering whether we could mine you and you'd regenerate...worth an experiment or two, I'd say.
Gunhex

Well at the moment, it's only worth the one experiment. Knowing how Dwarves feel about gold a second mining attempt would probably border on necrophilia...

Hi All,
Maybe a little late joinging this thread, but...
I'm in the Harts. Starting a new character this year, but previously was playing Xavier Splent. He was a typical Harts ponce, Deputy Bard, cartographer and maker of the Edrejan 'egg' Globes.
This is an old photo, before I fully 'glammed' my kit up to include a big green hat and ostrich feather. I'm on the far left.
http://www.hartsofalbion.org.uk/gallery/hg2003/04.htm
This time around I'm donning the armour and turning up as his Cousin Joachim Splent. Kit will look like this...
http://bladelands.co.uk/community/forums/album_pic.php?pic_id=220
Looking forward to the games, and to the fact that I can make the Gathering this year as IndyGenCon is earlier in August.
Cheers,
Ralph

Not anymore. It was introduced as a law as well as all elves must have a licence for the Gathering of 1102.
Vipers have reverted to the 4 main laws.
The by-laws are only trotted out when things need a stir.

Time to rush round trying to find all my bits and bobs, ready to put on my "I'm a well organised dwarf" face once I get to the site...
I've heard so many different rumours about what's going to happen that I genuinely don't know any more...I'm sure one or two of them will be true, but no idea which.

Highlights - Dwarven Cathayan Night, a couple of fun IC rants, not having to do any rites whatsoever, and the Cataclysm void rift stopping a hands width away from my shield. (Although I was kinda hoping it would go right past us and stop before the rite.)
Was fun. Cheers to people for putting up with me and my replacing sleep with alcohol antics...

I wish I'd seen Cathayan night --- damn it being the one night our camp was on lockdown! And the only reason you didn't have to do any rites is 'cos I did nearly all of them! (Damn me not having a big shield!)

Evil Bilbo eveerything said about you by Mr G is completely true.
Wotcha folk, up until the end of the weekend I was one of the Jackels ballast...sorry loyal member. To simplify I was wearing white tabbard, grey robes, a lot of aromour under them and black wings. Oh and had a large glaive. Rashiel was the name, attempting an intimidating look was the rather poorly played game. Any folk from Jackels on here that I might recognise?

Okay...think of this message less as spam, more as a service to you, the wonderful people of RPG.net, giving you advanced notice of an upcoming LT event. :)
"Forgive my poor scribing skills, for I am but an innkeeper. I am sending this message from Clare, from Otley, a meeting place for the surrounding villages and farmsteads.
We are surrounded by a forest rife with corruption and a sky filled with grim omens.
Our community is being torn apart by conflict and uncertainty. I fear this is a problem which spreads throughout the land.
I invite you to attend our next full meeting.
In this time of conflict and confusion the people need to see the nobles and the notables still protect them.
They need to see heroes. They need you.
Come to Otley, come to Clare, and let them hear the Dragon roar."

The Dragons Faction November campaign event is to be held on 10 - 12 November at Cuffley Outdoors Centre, Carbone Hill, nr Potters Bar.
For more information, visit http://jellyclub.org.uk or email me on wooltech@yahoo.co.uk.
(First priority player spaces will go to members of the Dragons Faction, Monsters are welcome from wherever. I know it'll be cold and wet in November, but I like to think of it as atmospheric for Celtic Ireland...)
The event is being run by members of the Dwarves of Borthawr, meself amongst them - it's our first time running something on this scale, but it'll be the BEST DRAGON EVENT SINCE THE CATACLYSM! GUARANTEED!

Cuffley? That was where our Spring Parliament was held!
There are two scout camps in Cuffley that apparently back on to each other...
Ours is Carbone Hill, about 90 acres of woodland. It gets used quite a lot, but the only time I've been there before was a Healer's Guild event in...erm...October 04 I think. Tipping the Scales.
Looks like a great site for what we want, the only problem is they may be demolishing the kitchen and dining hall...and we won't know for a good while yet.
Makes things a bit tricky to plan for, but we'll manage.

Used to be in the wolves.
Then I realised that other LRP systems published detailed accounts of their systems setting. That other events used metal coins, not plastic bits, that most events had costumes standards, that the battles weren't a waste of time and that the magic system didn't depend onthe mood the ref was in at the time.

I was in the Harts a long long time ago (about six years ago?).
I went to a few events, one of which was called 'Breaking the Mould'. There were about 14 of us in the player group, and about 80 monsters or something. I don't remember exactly, other than that this particular event was one of the best LRP events I have ever been in. Utterly awesome.
Alas, I moved out of the area soon after that and have since been living abroad and stopped playing.
Are there any LT groups near Bournemouth / New Forest (where I am living now)? I don't care which faction, but it would be nice to get back into it.

Was that the 24 hour time in, behind enemy lines style event? I monstered that :)
Tylorva

Yeah something like that. We went to the Summerlands (I think that is what it was called? Other world full of undead anyway) to investigate. There was some ritual or other that let us sneak in, then we basically tried to keep out of sight of all the monsters for most of the event.
At one stage during the night, it was pitch black, we heard them coming, so we all crouched down and kept still. The monster group passed within feet of us. It was great. :-)
