View Full Version : Making an Airplane?

I am already getting started on my Halloween birthday party and want to create a very unusual LARP experience. I want to create a boarding lobby with a mock-up luxury plane able to hold about 10-12 people at a time. There is an entrance on one side- the entrance side looks beautiful and glam (as does the inside). Then the exit side- the exit side when viewed from outside is totally demolished (also the interior of the plane should be able to undergo some devastation effects with people inside during a black out). So any ideas?

There is a great pic on the Voice of Seraph website of a plane interior. How was that done? Jealous!:D

Thanks in advance!

Never had much experiance with major staging like this. The best I could do is rows of fold out chairs.

Thank you Redfeild for you suggestion. No one has any other ideas. Some players even mentioned being in the Voice of Seraph game that had that airplane in it. Also, perhaps could you just suggest standard set building techinques and references. We are doing a LOST style island scene on the other side of the airplane with debris scattered everywhere, but a beachy island feel. How would you set up something like that in the confines of 40m x 10m room? Again ANY suggestions would be helpful.

Just a thought, but you could set up the plane interior and the crash site, and split them with a cloth backdrop painted to look like the inside of the plane (with views of clouds and everything). Use chairs and other movable props for the plane interior.

When the plane crashes, off with the lights, and make everyone lie on the floor with their eyes shut. Then the crew get get torches out, rip the cloth down, and scatter the plane props as wreckage across the crash site... voila! From airliner to desert island in a couple of minutes...

Make the 'plane' side of the room really claustrophobic (economy class?) to maximise the feeling of space when you get 'outside'.

This helping any?

Nice! And simplifies some design issues... Thanks!

Any set building reference materials out there that are recommend for beginners?
