Check out this video of a Stone Golem (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHl6QkC9__8) from Mordavia (http://www.mordavia.com/) in New Zealand. Way to go Ryan you're on Boing Boing (http://www.boingboing.net) :D.

Guy has a good gait figured out, too, he really sells it through his movements.

That golem also won an award on the Shade's LARP site in 2004.

Cheers guys. We had a big wave of publicity about the golem a couple of years back, and now it looks like it's back on the scene again.

Yes, it was as hot as buggery in there (as we say in New Zealand, charming colloquialism hey?) and yes the wearer in that video was particularly good at playing heavy. The video is of him practicing with the suit just before it rolled out into play.

I remember seeing the same golem costume on another website, but it had been touched up with ferns and some moss. Was that the same golem and have you made any other alterations over the years?

It made have been a different costume, there have been a few imitations and at least one case of parallel inspiration.

There was a short film that it appeared in (for a 48 hr film competition) where it had ferns and stuff in front of it. You might have seen a still from that. It was in a play too... playing a Discworld troll.

Our golem still looks pretty similar. Maybe a bit darker, as we've touched up the paint and the black is more dominant now.
