"Competition is fierce, my in-town competitor discounts all his books 20%, so I am going to sell less of whatever he stocks."

Do his suppliers know? Are they hip with him selling their stuff at discounts? Does he do so online? Discounting like that just hurts the industry as a whole. He's basically saying that none of those things are really worth their cover price.

I am not DOWN with the discount idea. If it's not worth that much then don't price it at that level, but to price it then discount it creates unhealthy trends for consumers to look for. Not good at all.
