Ahem: Warning- Minis Geek moment/rave ahead...

The Frothers Unite! UK site is having a new sculpting contest. This one's theme is miniatures for a late Victorian/early 20th century Insane Asylum based boardgame tha will be available as a free download to go with the figures.

I'm personally reallly looking forward to this one as it hits dead on the period that I've been gaming in. Unlike the previous contests, I have absolutely refuse to miss out on this particular limirted run set of figures ( if previous contest winning sets are any example of what to expect, anyway...)

Here's the link:

The Alice minis (http://www.frothersunite.com/files/wk/contest/2004/contest.htm) were pretty spectacular.

(I'd post at the Froth Forums more, but I need to send the mods there an email requesting that they jump start my dead account for me. I'll get around to it soon, honest!)

Oh, and I know that someone (http://forum.rpg.net/member.php?u=13865) not too far from this thread will be looking out for various lunatics for a planned mini-campaign (http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?t=268123).

Man, I'm not even a very good painter. I can only dream of being able to enter something like that!

The ones from the Chick Challenge (http://www.frothersunite.com/files/wk/contest/2005/contest.htm) were very cool, too.

Do these ever actually make it to metal?

Yup. They have very limited runs, however. Then the full rights revert to the sculptor.

I'm still kicking myself for not getting the sets from the previous contest. They aren't even especially/overly/unexpectedly expensive, being comparable in price to stuff by Copplestone or Foundry.

I believe that they still sell the classic "Dave the Orc" and "Col. Marbles".

*Sigh*

I'd have loved to get my SO the Dormouse in the Teapot. There's a story behind this, but it'll have to wait for another time.

I'd have bought nearly all the Alice ones.

Perhaps they would do well at Arkham Asylum (http://www.tin-soldier.com/vicmansion1.htm)?

Oh, my. They've gone and expanded their range of paper and mixed media kits, haven't they?

I'd have bought nearly all the Alice ones.

Look, I just don't want to talk about it.

Um, the rights reverted to the sculptor, yes?

The sculptor's name is mentioned on the site, yes?

Presumably the sculptor still has the green and/or is having the figure produced elsewhere.

Couldn't you just poke around and contact the artist on the Doormouse-in-teapot figure?

Edit:
Crap. I couldn't find a name beyond "Rob" either, :(

Pur-lease! That would take initiative and a "can-do" attitude on my part.

Oh. :( x2

Oh, yeah. The Frothers don't always hold fire on the criticism either. One or two of the pieces in the "Chick Challenge" got a real mauling.

Couldn't you just email the site owners and ask for the contact info for the sculptor?
