I must admitt that you took me by suprise there... you're one of the few publishers who I've talked with who accept art in JPEG format. I was under the understanding that TIFF was the preferred format as it was inherently "lossless"

You know what, I think you're right. The final art did come in as *.TIF format. This is why I hire other people to do my layout work. Thanks for pointing that out!

I think I also enclosed the .psd photoshop format files, which are occasionally useful. Nobody outside of webpages uses .jpg files. And if a certain company keeps on trying to extract royalties for its use, maybe not even them.

I work in advertising and sales in the alcohol industry. We use TIFF, EPS, JPEG and PDF. There's nothing wrong with JPEG, packing ratio 10 (so-called "maximum" - hardly noticeable loss of quality). It's when people start packing them with anything less when it becomes a problem. We've released glossy magazine ads with JPEG material and they've turned out just fine. Of course, you must take the exact nautre of the material into account, and manage colors correctly, and so on.
JPEG can help when you can't know for sure what kind of equipment the material is going to be viewed or used on. We have clients all over the world, and it's a very (and I mean very) common problem that the smaller ones can't view our material.
