Here is a little piece I did based on the militaristic bent that Bush seems to be in ... It ended up being something that would prolly work well as an interior illo.

Nice cartoon and nice lines. It could use a whole bunch more black though. More of the character could have been shown as well to give a better sense as to his anatomy. Just a thought.

I see what you mean, I was worried about it ending up too unbalanced if I used an over abundance of black, I liked the drawing so I stopped before taking it further, partialy because I do have a tendancy to overwork a piece occasionally . I prolly should of included more cross hatching and stippling, but I am still debating on adding color to the image.
Here is another and in my opinion better piece

Can't fault your reasoning. Always better to stop before causing damage. Personally, I think it's fine without more black. There is a certain elegance to pure line drawing, especially when you have good line variation.

That last one has some very nice line work as well :) They will both definitely look great when colored. In that light, the first one probably doesn't need anymore black to it. I look forward to seeing them finished and I hope you post them soon.

Thanks for the kind words. Actually I sam not going to color the second one < the kung-fu cat critter>. My folio is a little light on strong B&W work. If I do add color it most likely will be through photoshop/Painter. Since we have an open dialogue going I'll add a another image, color this time. This is done with colored pencils, and a tid bit of watercolor. This was the best selling print at last year's Gencon for me. I am working on doing a series <one per year> on this same theme or bent. Otherwise I am working on a screen shots and character designs for a video game so that I going to be taking up most of my time for the next month. Speaking of which I will be attending GenCon 2003 as a part of the art show once again.
