View Full Version : [WoW] Blood Elf Mount Video

Video of the new Blood Elf mount has been leaked. Its a "cockatrice", and looks a bit like an angry tie died chocobo. If you can't imagine what that would look like, then you need to do more acid. Alternatively, you can watch the YouTube video yourself:

In other news, Leenjai hit 60 tonight, put up a purple ring in the AH for 200 g (already got one bid) and is going on his first raid tommorow. Hurray!

It's the best looking mount in the game to date. I'm interested to see the varrious color schemes.

Once again...they'd better update the mount graphics and animations for the other races too, or the Blood Elves are just going to look out of place.

I thought I saw a shot of a Blood Elf riding a giant elk elsewhere. Anyone know what's up with that?

Damnit, Jhest has given stupid amounts of runecloth to the trolls in search of a raptor. Now I'm gonna have to redirect my efforts to Blood Elf schmoozing - I want one of those babies.

If it was a reindeer, it could be the result of that Christmas item that turns your mount into one.

Don't think I would, now:rolleyes:

Hmm, with the new mount changes, do you have to be Exalted with the race to get the mounts anymore? I thought they had changed that ...

No, the changes only effect the way cost is divided between riding skill and mount. Epic level mounts will be cheaper by a factor of ten, but will still require exalted reputation for cross-faction purchases.

Can't you just create a character that is of the right race, send the money to it and it then sending the Mount to you? I have this memory of Mounts being Bind on Use not Pickup.

Nah, it was definitely distinct from the reindeer, from what I can tell. It's about 1:20 into this video (http://youtube.com/watch?v=9tSicL8rBhg).

No, they are not. They are Bind on Use. I know this as my guild lets newly 40s use another member with Sergeant and honorable bonuses as intermediaries for the discount.
This is for regular mounts of course dunno about epics.

On the one hand, it looks like Blizzard may well be on the path to finally achieving faction balance.
On the other hand, it looks like 2/3rds of the Horde will be Blood Elves in six months. :p

They're changing to BoP with the expansion, because otherwise cross-faction mounts would be attainable (since all mounts will use the same skill).

Y'know, I've never really had much of an interest in birds ... but I want one of these.
That thing has a very predatory look to its face. "Yes, I'm pretty, but I will F*** YOU UP!" ... which is pretty much the Blood Elf attitude, apparently.
I approve.

That video looks to have been made with a model viewer; with a model viewer, you can mount the character on just about anything, kit them out with any armor/weapon/etc. This would also explain the Draenei female riding the Plainstrider.

Can anyone confirm whether the Blood Elf flight-path beasts will be the Dragonhawk? It kinda makes sense given that Dragonhawk riders were in the Frozen Throne expansion for WC3. And this Cockatrice video looks to be of a similar styling (well, they're both brightly coloured birds...)
While we're at it does anyone know what the Draeni flight path animals are going to be? UFOs? :p

Wait, do you mean to say, theoretically, I could buy an Alliance mount and, with the aid of a buddy, put it up for auction in the neutral AH for one of my Horde characters to buy--then ride it when the changes go through?
Despite being pretty well certain Blizzard will take steps to prevent this somehow...

Ever been to Goldshire? There are more night elves in the tavern there than in all in all of Kalimdor.
And for some reason, they're all dancing naked on the tables.

The only official word we have is this link (http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread.html?topicId=35293788) any other infromation is people claiming to play the alpha of the patch and saying that it was changed.
No where does it say that you are not still restricted in using only mounts that you could normally use, for example Tauren could not learn to ride Trolls mounts before why should these new riding skills cover those mounts?

Who claimed that Tauren would be able to ride raptors? That's not a function of the riding skill, that's because the Tauren model is too big to fit on the raptor model without looking ridiculous. I'm sure mechanostriders will still be limited to Gnomes and Dwarves, too. That's a completely separate graphics-related issue and not one that's even been brought up here, as far as I know.

They've never shied away from things which look totally ridiculous before. I mean, Tauren look pretty damn silly on the AV wolf (their feet practically touch the ground) but you can still do it. I think they're worried that if they let humans ride mechanical chickens all the kiddies will say "zomg that makes no sense!". Or maybe they're little kiddies at heart and think "zomg that makes no sense!". We've all been to rpg open, people take their "realistic" very seriously when it comes to giant talking cows riding dinosaurs.

That's awesome. Do the characters do these funny dances in the game or is that just the modelers messing around? I saw the "Napoleon Dynamite" in there. And was that first model doing the perfect cast from A Goofy Movie?
woodsmoke
09-24-2006, 08:47 PM
They do indeed. Every race has a different dance for each gender pulled straight from real life. Blood Elf males do Napoleon Dynamite, Human males do a disco from what I assume was a popular movie in the 80s *begins donning flame-retardant e-suit :p *, Human females do the Macarena, Dwarven males/females do the Russian Can-Can/Riverdance, Night Elf males do Michael Jackson's Thriller (I believe), Forsaken males do a Metal head-bang, and Orc males do an M.C. Hammer routine. :D
You'll have to ask someone else about the Gnome, Troll, Tauren and female Night Elf, Forsaken and Orc dances. I've seen most/all of them, but I don't know where they come from.

Female Night elf is Alizees Gyrating from her concerts and music videos.
Male Tauren dance is the Peanut butter jellytime song, not sure about the females.
I am trying to remember the name of the male troll dance, but I can't, haven't seen the female troll dance.
Gnomes both do a stripperish dance.
Male Draenei do the 'Tunak Tunak Tun' dance from Dahler mendhis song, female Draenei do a bellydance.
Female undead to a liquids raver dance.
