Although it hasn't been announced or commented on by Blizzard employees, repeatedly all hunter pets now have a 2.0 attack speed.

And in other news, I'm now trying to camp for the rare white windserpent in Feralas. *sigh* No luck yet.

From what it sounds like as well, in future beta patches pet types will have an attack speed according to family (cats will have a fast speed, bears slow, etc etc) and you could improve your pets attack speed by pet skills, but these would lower its damage.

I'm ambivalent about this, on one hand cats will be far less popular (HOORAY!), but on the other hunters will lose a good deal of anti caster power.

I guess it means people won't feel they have to stick with broken tooth (or whatever it is called).

Yep, that's it, Broken Tooth. I uh, actually just released mine on news of the 2.0 attack speed change. I never really wanted to level him up from 37 to 60 anyway. Urghh what a stupid grind.

Maybe they'll set pet attack speeds by type. Apparently with the new Kill Command, which is based on pet damage, they do less damage if they're fast. But that would probably still leave things like cats as popular PVP pets, wouldn't it?

Meh.. Not a big fan of my pet's total damage taking a hit just so it can attack faster.

Unless they're implying overall DPS will remain unchanged while each individual hit does less damage to compensate?

I read a long calculation about how BM hunters could get broken tooth down to .2 attack speed for bursts with an average of about .4.

So, they did it to make sure that BM hunters weren't unkillable by casters. :p

I weep for my Broken Tooth, who's been with me since before the 1.7 patch. On the other hand, if this means that I can tame any cat and boost his attack speed with skills, I won't mourn that long.

If you see the "hunter geeky joy" thread, I logged in yesterday and he was right next to me :)
