View Full Version : GTS- What to wear?

So, I'm packing my luggage for my very first GAMA Trade Show, and it occurs to me- I haven't the slightest what to wear!

How dressy is this thing? "Wear something nice" seems to be the GAMA advice. But this is the gaming industry... I could wear a suit and tie, but I could also wear a nice polo shirt and kakhis...

Or maybe that skimpy red thing I got last month?

Let me ask this: What's the level of dress y'all plan on wearing, and why? What's typical? Am I obsessing over something that's really trivial? Does this make me look fat?

Help me!

I tend to go the shirt and tie route, but that is more than many do. If you're going with a knit shirt and slacks, make sure they aren't worn/faded/etc and you'll be fine.

I tend to wear a suit,, simply because of the above.

Doing my best to counteract the jeans-and-Pokethulu-tshirt crowd,

Rofl! I know what you mean, Gareth. Actually I've lost about 70 pounds in the last couple of years (see what becoming a game designer can do?) and I have some new clothes I'm really looking forward to wearing. I don't dress this nicely too often, but I enjoy it on occasion.

The other factor is shoes. Wear comfortable shoes! You will be on your feet, a LOT. I bought a pair of Ecco wingtips last year, for GTS I think. The are the most comfortable pair of shoes of any kind I own (I find it hard to believe too). They are worth their weight in gold, but don't go especially well with that Pokethulu shirt Gareth mentioned :)
