View Full Version : [WoW/BC] Yet another reason I hate the Archdruid.

Minor spoiler if you haven't been to Coilfang Resorvoir Slave Pens.

There are Fallen Dranei mobs that are enslaved by the naga there. If you defeat a naga slavemaster, the nearby nonelite slaves will de-aggro and run off, rejoicing in their freedom.

If you free the slaves, there is no practical reward, aside from feeling like a do-gooder.

If you kill every slave mob in the instance, you will leave with a bit more XP and Cenarion Expedition reputation rep under your belt.

Yup. The archdruid gets a boner when you kill slaves. That's fucked up.

I really wish you could attack NPCs from your faction, just so I could get a group together to kill that guy.

In my guild its a common understanding that not only will we not interfere with any Horde raiding the Archdruid, we will /clap and /cheer them.

I've heard this about many servers.

I'd also like to point out that the deaggro script on those slaves is buggy to all hell, so we have had to put down quite a few that wouldn't run off.

I made cracks about house slaves, I admit it.

I've run into the deaggro problem in Zangarmarsh, too.

It's bad enough that they add, but when they don't behave properly, it's a pain in the ass.

Hey, the Night Elves need a leader to represent all the murderous Rogues and Hunters.

This is the same Archdruid who goes "Why are you wasting my time?" as an intro?
The one who sends you to get Morrowgrain from Un'Goro Crater, and when you get extra seeds from Feralas, you find out THEIR Druid leader wants you to give him an extra report because he has reason to be suspicious of what the Archdruid is doing?

Yeah, what a tool.

Ah, Arhdruid Fandral Staghelm. My favorite bit is where he threatens you if you answer Moonglade's call for help against the silithid.

I've always said that he's auditioning to be the final boss of a raid instance in a future expansion (the Emerald Dream?). He's seriously one of the most hateful jerks I've encountered in the game. Well, NPC jerks, anyway.

To be fair to him, though, isn't the Cenarion Expedition supposed to be pretty much independent of the Cenarion Circle on Azeroth? We should blame the expedition leader - Ysiel Windsinger, IIRC - for this one.

This would be the Alliance's biggest druidic hotshot?

Interesting, because Hordeside (I admit that I pretty much skipped Slithius), the Cenarians seemed pretty much pure good, like the Taurens but without those pesky Grimtotems. Even the Argent Dawn still cut deals with those Scarlet Assholes.

He's technically the leader of the whole Cenarion Circle, both Alliance and Horde. However, there's basically been a split between the Cenarion Circle in Darnassus and the Cenarion Circle in Moonglade/Silithus (I think originating from the Archdruid's decision to create Telldrassil), though neither side really openly admits that there's a split.

And now there's also the Cenarion Expedition, though I don't think there's any real information on what side of that divide they come down on. Most likely with Moonglade, but it could really be either or neither.

Fandral isn't the leader of the Circle, that is Remulos' job as the last true son of Cenarius. Fandral is the spiritual leader of the night elves. Fandral has basically totally split from the Cenarion faction and essentially the Night Elves you play? The ones who live in Teldrassil? They are the ones who abandoned their ancestral homeland of Moonglade to live on a big corrupted symbol of their own arrogance.

As I recall, the npc's in Zangarmarsh refer to reporting back to the Moonglade in one or two of the quests, so I would assume that's where their loyalty lies.

Staghelm has always struck me as a "power over nature" style druid, with the Moonglade bunch being more "harmony with nature." One of the only Alliance characters I made was NE druid whom I deleted after doing a quest or two for Staghelm. I remember thinking something like "screw the Alliance, even their NPC's are jerks." :p

So, where are the real Night Elves?

So, where are the real Night Elves?

Moonglade, and also spread around in all the annoying areas of the world, giving you quests (ie. Silithus, etc.)

My wife made me laugh last night. We were doing a mushroom gathering quest in Zangarmarsh, you have to kill off these Ogres to get them to drop. Seeing that you each need fifteen to finish the quest, and that the drop rate is pretty low, and we were grouped together doing it ...

"Jeeze. This nice druid lady sends us into this Ogre town to commit genocide so she can feed some overgrown walking bushes." We had to kill maybe a hundred or so of the buggers to get the thirty we needed? Nice druid lady! :)

So, where are the real Night Elves?
Astranaar, Felwood, Winterspring, Azshara, Feralas, Stonetalon Peak and Moonglade mostly.

Note that while it doesn't seem it in the game, Nighthaven in Moonglade is the original Night Elf capital city and holds several thousand.

As a note about the Morrowgrain, while everyone else is worried about it, he doesn't have a sinister purpose. The morrowgrain is used in curses, and it's grown in Un'goro's soil. During the war against the Qiraji, their advance was halted in Un'goro crater. And the Qiraji killed his son, so...

So actually giving him the morrowgrain won't result in nasty unintended consequences, then? (Been withholding the grain from him while diverting it elsewhere since I wouldn't trust him as an archdruid farther than I could spit).

Ah the arch druid. I refuse to take quests from him on principle. Ever. Yes, even that one. What a dick.

Well IMO, he's using it to keep Malfurion asleep. But only time will tell.

Yhea, he's a jerk alright. The Archdruid is one of those dangling plot points (like the Missing Diplomat quest series) that I really, really hope Bliz. gets around to addressing.

Could have it that he's fallen under the sway of whatever's terrorising the emerald dream, then have an event with him similar to the lady prestor one on SW, along with a matching raid boss.....

The silithus stuff explains part of why he's such a dick (his son was a hero and got killed).

I did that one last night. "Why won't these ogres give me my mushrooms!" Yeah, I felt like a druggie.

You get part of that questline in AQ20 (I think?), but it's quite poignant. I like it better if he's not possessed by anything, he's just like that.

And with the mushrooms? You just gotta finish the quest line, then you'll see where she's coming from. Druids are about keeping the balance, not never killing.

That's a quest reward from a quest you can pick up from the Sporeggar when you have friendly (I think?) reputation. They want you to go kill something in the Underbog. I remember they gave me about 3 Underbog quests once I had the faction with them.

And I love my mushroom trinket!!

You can find mushroom crates in a nearby cave, and thus don't need to kill quite as many. :p

That's the 2nd step in the chain isn't it? The first is for the samples and is all about the killing ogres if I remember correctly.

As brooksd01 said that is step two, and was much easier yes. The first step was the tough one, you had to kill the guys in the bog. Just had a really, really low drop-rate. Thankfully they have a pretty fast spawn.
