Hm. The whole issue of fines becomes an interesting one -- fines that would be severe to a yeoman or crippling to a less prosperous peasant might not make an adventurer blink.

50 shillings is 2 1/2 pounds, about the price of a mail hauberk in 1350. Hmm.
