I will definitely be watching this column with interest, particularly since it shows a lot of promise.
I particularly like the idea of brainstorming Nemeses and some kickass scenes for one-shots in general, something I wouldn't particularly mind asking for if I should decide to run a one-shot on the boards using this game.

That's an idea I've toyed with my own self. Rapid-posting players would be essential, methinks, 'cuz the brainstorming process requires a lot of back and forth.

Spiffing! So that's what you meant by me reading your mind. I like this idea a lot, which is no surprise given my attempts with settings in a page. (http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?t=304409)

I will, indeed, keep it up, as I think this will be a pretty cool column. Last night, I ran a 2-hour pick-up game with April's setting: Celestial. We whipped up a surprisingly rich crime & intrigue plot and ended up with enough material for 1-2 more sessions! I'll post an AP report when the article goes online.

Wushu to the people, y'all! Great new column, Dan.
If you're open to requests for things to discuss... the subject of chargen in this context is worth talking about. How do you help players come up with Traits that will work in the game without dampening their enthusiasm?
On a related note, how do you decide if and when to use some of the optional rules for Wushu?

This is a good point, there's that whole orientation v animation balance that has to be struck. Longer spent on "getting it right" (orientation) tends to reduce that spotaneous initial enthusiasm (animation).

That's a problem that never even occurred to me. I guess I've never found chargen to sap players' enthusiasm, at least not in Wushu. In the Aztech game, everyone got a Trait that described their schtick, a combat Trait, and one more supplemental thing (usually technical or social).
The Celestial game was another thing entirely, but you'll see what that's about in April.

That would be Celestial, and it's up in April :)
Thanks, everybody. I'm glad to see the intro didn't fly under the radar.

I'll be interested to see the format for them once the first one goes up. I think much moreso than Sanctum this is right up my alley for writing something.

Were we due another column this week?

The intro article was released out of sequence, 'cuz it's a little light on content. My regular schedule is the first Thursday of the first full week of the month.
Celestial will be comin' at ya in April.
