So, since we have decent control of spam on the Wiki—apparently having one spammer whacked gets others’ attention—I was thinking of starting a Lexicon Game.
For those who don't know, have a look at this copy of the original blog entry. (http://wiki.rpg.net/index.php/Original_Lexicon_post) (I've copied it to the Wiki from its home at “The 20' by 20' Room” since the latter seems to have disappeared.) Basically, it's a game where the "players" are creating a communal encyclopedia one article at a time, linking them to one another, and thereby challenging each others' creativity. Assuming it's set up properly and followed through...
Here are some possibilities for subject:
First idea: simply the History of Humanity (et al.) in the Years 2050-2300. With a few assumptions (mainly that those years will be very interesting, but not result in an apocalypse, for obvious reasons) this could result in a playable gameworld without the "baggage" of current sci-fi settings.
Alternatively, it could be an effort to "flesh out" an existing setting, adding to the established gameworld (I'm thinking of Serenity for some reason).
In a more esoteric vein: the Secret History of the 20th Century. This could be, say, an Unknown Armies thing, or White Wolf, or In Nomine, or maybe even all of the above.
Et cetera, et cetera.
So now I'm posting this, mainly to gauge interest, but also to see which direction it could go. Would you be interested in this? Would you participate? Which of these do you like, or do you have an idea of your own?
Feel free to post and let us know... -- Knockwood
