View Full Version : Mars D20, So Where Is It?

Orginal plan was for it to ship on the 16th of this month. Then Adamant says it will be delayed by a week. Well the week is over and still no word on when it is shipping or when the PDF will be ready for downloading.

Anyone got any information on what the delay is, and when we can expect to see it ship?

Sorry about the constant delays, folks. It should be out this week (finally). There have been some personal reasons that have been keeping me from getting things done as quickly as I'd like.

For those folks who pre-ordered -- as a way of apologizing for the delay, you'll be getting the first two support releases for MARS, free of charge.

Having pre-ordered, I can only comment on the apology bonus with "woot!"

I just want to assure everyone that Mythos is not one of my sockpuppets. ;)

I would also like to thank Mythos and Silverback for saving me the trouble of finding my old thread to ask this exact question.

Doesn't look like it's going to be out this week, either... :(

Ya got 4 hours, GMS!

Perhaps we'll get the next four products free! :D

Or maybe some other goods from the Adamant library.

I'm wondering what the hold up is on the PDF. I can understand the printing side of things but if it's been done for X amount of weeks...

Yeah, I'm a bit baffled at this, and I'm usually one to give creative types the benefit of the doubt when it comes to schedules.

Oh well...

total speculation but the impression i got is that the PDF is supposed to not be released until the print ships. So its delay is possibly more policy than problem.

I don't cut creative types the slack.

Sick people on the other hand...

But even then, sick or not, if it is policy, it'd be a stupid one since the book is only available via direct order no? Not like we'd be getting the PDF ahead of people purchasing it in the store.

I hope I'm not stealing GMS' thunder, but a recent email announced that the .pdfs are shipping within the hour, and the books next week.

Looking forward to seeing it!

I'm also hoping it does well enough to warrant plenty of followup products.

After skimming it, I find it a good, flexible skeleton of a setting. The rules, well I am semifluent in, but not a fan of d20 (any form).

It is going to be interesting to see where the supplements take it.

Spent a good part of last night going through the background and character creation.
Have to say that I am liking everything I read.

I just got done reading MARS after dling it, and I am very pleased with the setting. It is "Barsoomy" enough to please the ERB fan in me but has enough other elements to take it beyond a mere aping of ERB. Good advice for incorporating Earth-men as well.
The editing is a little spotty (there are mentions of a "Campaigns" section in the Earth-Man racial description that didn't seem to make it into the final version, and one of the monsters in the Creatures section is referred to as a dire lion in the description of it's pounce attack), but considering I plan on using the background for a different rules set, (Right now, I'm thinking Savage Worlds or PDQ), I am plenty satisfied with MARS.

Your right about it being "Barsoomy". In fact, I can see where the ERB estate could be a little worried about how much it emulated the John Carter material.

While the editing is a bit spotty it's nothing compared to what I've seen in some of the big company releases. And a good read through of the material has, so far, cleared up any errors I've come across.

In particular I like the section on using D&D monsters and the conversion charts for creating your own creatures. Having a copy of the old "Guide to Barsoom", those sections make it much easier for me to create things like thoat and zitidars for the game.

While their is no direct material for the creation of your own planet. The setting information provided in the book covers enough material that it would be, imo, easy to transpose the information into your own creation. I've already started to do some thinking about how to create a setting in which both Venus and the Moon are also life bearing worlds.

I am suprised Lizard or Ian hasn't piped up since they wrote it along with GMS.

I hope one supplement concentrates on the grey martians. All that talk of a big plan, yet no description.

Cute, but why would invading Earth have anything to do with invading the surface of Mars?

Anyways, I am hoping it has to do with their interstellar travels from long ago.

They have to invade the surface of Mars to wipe out the other martians so they can build their launchers to get to Earth, which is, coincidentally, not dying.
