To tell you the truth, I would buy this in a hot second. Yeah, it's a joke, but still...
Monopoly: There and Then Edition
2007 will see the D&D-themed There and Then edition of Monopoly, the world’s best-selling board game. The name plays on Monopoly’s Here and Now edition, which features such new playing pieces as a Starbucks coffee and Motorola phone, and properties that include New York’s Time Square, San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge, and Chicago’s O’Hare Airport.
In the There and Then edition, playing pieces will include a sword, shield, and sack of gold, while properties will be generated from the Forgotten Realms and Eberron settings, such as Sharn, Waterdeep, and Undermountain; as well as from classic adventures, such as the Tomb of Horrors, White Plume Mountain, Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth, and Expedition to the Barrier Peaks.

Me too. Just for those times when you can't not play Monotonous, er Monopoly (like when the nephews are over).

I love the gelatinous cube for "In Jail"

That is far and away a better "prank" than the one that Palladium tried to pull off. Oh, that (http://forums.palladium-megaverse.com/viewtopic.php?t=72327) was just painful.

I liked this joke better than their "My Little Pony d20" game. That was... just... ugh. Thank goodness I saw the "April Fools!" tag at the bottom, or I may have dropped my love of d20 altogether.

It would have been even better if they had changed the property prices from dollars ($) to gold pieces (GP).

Yeah, I'd also buy it. It just looks fun, especially if the classic monopoly pieces were wizards, rogues, fighters, and clerics instead.

Aww, that's too bad. You landed Tomb of Horrors. Roll a 1 on 2d6 or die permanently.

Maybe instead of houses and hotels you could have ruins and dungeons. And then each piece could have a special power. . . . oh, nevermind!

That's not intended to be a prank. It's intended to be a joke that traces way back to the Rifter 9 1/2, where Ferkelberger was introduced. That was a great issue, which introduced the concept of Giga-Damage, and had a (real) FAQ addressing such obnoxious issues as players getting hold of the SDF-1 and its main gun.
[EDIT]To clarify: it wasn't intended to fool anyone. It's just an inside joke between the company and their fans.

I could have sworn the monopoly version already existed, but I guess I was getting Monopoly and Clue confused.
As long as the pieces were proper mini size, I would get it. heh.

Oh, I got the "joke" - it just wasn't any funny the second time around.

I thought that the joke about the D&D party pack with the Red Dragon pinata filled with D&D minis was actually a good idea. I'd love to see a Red Dragon pinata event at GenCon.

lol.
You should really give that suggestion to the Con people!
That would be pretty awesome. :D

I was actually disappointed it was a joke. I think a "My Little Pony" game is a fantastic idea...

D&D Monopoly is about the only kind of Monopoly that I would willingly play.
It's two kinda bland tastes that go great together. ;)

Nah. Use Inns and Castles.;)

Darn it. I'm at work or I'd put up the comic panel of the two geeks playing Monopoly. One lands on the other's property and is told to pay. The player refuses and claims the land as his and will not pay the ruler. They RP insults then call for initiative.
I'd play that D&D monopoly.

That wouldn't be bad, actually. Instead of houses and hotels, you can put monster minis on your "streets". If a passing player doesn't want to pay, he has to fight the minis; if he loses, he has to pay more.
For another variant, there's Illuminopoly (http://www.gamecabinet.com/rules/Illuminopoly.html).

I was actually disappointed it was a joke. I think a "My Little Pony" game is a fantastic idea...I have to be the weirdest guy ever, but I thought the same thing. Of course, it'd be better with a different system . . . :D Could you imagine the classes? You'd have your basic pony, your jewel-eyed pony, baby ponies, pegasus ponies, flutter ponies . . . maybe they could even stat up the schmooze! Well, that'd be some kind of villain, but you get the idea. "Nothing can stop . . . the schmooze."

You're not the only one. And some of us have "miniatures" available for the game too...

And that "joke" page probably had more thought in terms of design and marketing of the game put into it than may actual RPGS :D

I wish they had put this out in all seriousness. Man, the idea just ROCKS! :)If they did, though, I'd say drop the Eberron. It may be cool and all, but it's way too new for a "there and then" edition. They need to stick to famous places from more classic D&D properties.

As I recall, there was a fairly long thread on the D&D boards where a lot of people were agreeing with you. It would actually be a brilliant way to introduce girls to the concept of role-playing games, not to mention give gamer parents something to do with their daughters.

I don't know. I picked up D&D Clue when it came out, but Monopoly is monopoly no matter how you slice it. For Christmas one year my parents bot me JLA-opoly, wherein you run around the board buying superpowers and building hotels on them (don't quote me on that last part). But, even though you had a nice set of JLAers to play as, it was still Monopoly. You could make Awesome Mc-Better than life-opoly where you race around the board on jet powered Segways, trading rare and potent spice for some crazy time islands where you would build you giant fighting robots, but it would still be Monopoly.
