Legendary Lives, second edition, Marquee press

Demon's Realm, Lasalion games

I've decided to collect the "heartbreakers", from the forge essays, (maybe even to do reviews) and these are the two I've had trouble finding. I've missed LL2nd a couple of times, but I've never seen a peep about DR. If anyone has a copy they are looking to part with, PM me.

thanks,

I just sold my copy of Legendary Lives, 2nd edition, to Noble Knight Games. I shipped it off to them yesterday, so you might want to try looking around at nobleknight.com for it in a week or so.

Well that was crappy timing on my part. I guess I should have posted last week like I first thought.

Thanks for the heads up.

Y'know my knee-jerk reaction was "cold, dead fingers" and all that. But then I paused.

I have a copy of LL 2nd. It's been sitting on my shelf for ages (I happen to think the 1st edition is better, but even that's gone untouched for a while). I won't let it go too cheap, but I don't expect a King's Ransom for it either. If interested, make me an offer.

As a side note, Noble Knight has a copy (probably the above-mentioned copy) for $30.

What do you like better about the first edition? (I specified 2nd because I read it has a flexible magic system.)

I can't really remember. I bought it when it first came out, played it a couple times and shelved it. I can check my old notes when I get home.

Well, I couldn't find my notes, so I took a browse through the book. Now I remember. 15 years ago, I thought the magic system was too fluid. In the couple of games we tried, it was hard to adjudicate because it was so damn open. It got in the way of play. It was also the first time I'd played with such a system.

Of course, since then, I've played and run Mage, Everway, and other games with pretty open magic systems, so now I wonder if LL 2nd doesn't deserve another shot. Now I'm not so sure I want to part with it. :)

The magic system in 1st edition more closely resembles old school, though the list of spells is small and meant to inspire players with ideas for more.

I'm looking for it, but I'm not about to pry it from anyones hands. I'd rather not be responsible for someone doing an Anakin because they sold the wrong book.:D
